Poker After Dark Dream Week.

Nov 4, 2008 8:27 am Report Abuse

NBC is having there second edition of Poker After Dark Dream Table this week and the amateaur picked Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Mike Sexton and Mike Matasow. In fact, he just beat Phil Hellmuth out of a pot....pretty cool hand.

So, who would you choose if you got the chance to play your dream table? I personally would choose Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Chris Ferguson.

Who would you choose?

Must be a re-run, was a good week.
Good question.
I'd take Negreanu, Ferguson, Esfandiari, Vanessa Rousso and Dolly.

smart thing to do would be to choose ones you think you'd have a better chance against.....

but I'd have to include Hellmuth just for the fun it would be if I manged to bust him....

and Matusow is a must for the humor

Negreanu would probably be scariest one (cause all the crazy reads they show him makin' on tv ...might be that he announces his reads all the time and they just show them when he's right.....I dont know)

Lets see I know Negreanu, Ferguson, Matasow, Harman, and Hachem

I feel that would be a great table

Yeah I guess you could go that way, by choosing a bunch of easier ones that you think you could take. But let's face it, your probally never gonna get a chance like this again.

You forgot one. It's a six-handed game, you only chose 4.

I'm not sure who I'd pick. Having seen both dream weeks before, it felt kind of distant. Like the kids who got in were the odd men out. There was table talk, but little of it was directed at the winner. The only conversation I can recall was in the first one, when Negreanu asked the kid if he played SNGs. And even that was abbreviated by the producers. It's understandable because they don't know each other and probably have very little in common. But for a dream table, it felt cold. Like if I randomly walked up to these guys in a cash game and just sat in: "Sure you can play, but you might as well just leave the money." I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool. But I'm not sure whether or not "fun" would be they best way to describe the event.

I suppose I'd pick Howard Lederer, his sister Annie Duke (if UB lets her), Daniel Negreanu, Chris Ferguson and Doyle Brunson (because, hey, he's Doyle). All terrific players and people that I think I could get a little something out of. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I get from their numerous T.V. appearances.

Well woffice, first off you choose five in a 6 handed game. You and five other players. And second, so far it doesn't seem cold to me at all, they seem to be chatting it up with him quiet a bit. They even thanked him for inviting them to be there.
woffice Nov 4, 2008 9:42 am
That's what I meant by you forgot one. You chose 4 and, including yourself, you'd need one more to fill the table. Unless I missed something.

Secondly, it's possible that I'm wrong. PAD is on late out here and I may not have seen it all the way I thought I did. I just gave my general impression of the way it played out for me. If you have a different opinion, then I will defer to you.

My bad woffice, I see what you mean now. I guess I'd probally put Phil Ivey on there too.
