KK , Railbird Hand of the Night !

Oct 25, 2008 5:56 am Report Abuse

What has there been 2 or 3 blogs this evening of Railbirds showing how their pocket kings were beat ? Well, it happened to me also, and I can't for the life of me reason what motivated my opponent to make his play, maybe some of you can !

I am not even sure if one of our password pirates would play this way in a freeroll !

I did catch a good hand on the button. The guys to my left were in the habit of not raising from the blinds, so I looked at a lot of cheap flops with marginal hands, and hit a few of them, like this one :

thank gosh, it was n't the guy with 58 dollars in front of him playing this hand. Doesn't make sense, but full tilt is really starting to create an image to me of being a good place to not play at................JMO

good luck TC..................................dj

LOL

u didnt see he had the gut shot straight!?!?!?!? LOL

why some ppl call hands like that is beyond explanation maybe he put you on two overs?? would have been a good move on his part if say you had ace king.....but still the 3's?? three overs that gutty couldnt have been that intruiging to call but again WHO KNOWS???:S ----goood luck on the tables!!

skittles Oct 25, 2008 6:12 am
What can I say? Some people will chase anything. The small pair the he may have thought was good....The gutshot straight. Tough beat.
ButtonDog Oct 25, 2008 6:13 am
It's not just KK. It's any high pocket pair in the deck. I swear I have never seen so many people playing any hand as long as it had one face card and one rag in it and winning every time.

I think our teachers here need to go back to poker school. They have been telling us those rags are bad and to play position. Those rags are winning regardless of position.

I know what it is though. I have poker figured out. When I start playing the rags the real hands will start winning. They like to mess my mind.

I love this game in spite of all of this though. It's the most mind stimulating exercise ever invented by man.

I am beginning to hate KK almost as much as AA. Twice in a tourney earlier today I had KK in late positon, was first to raise, raised at least 6x bb, and got called both times by A3 and A5. You know the rest of the story.
BlueBomber88 Oct 25, 2008 6:43 am
well, at least it was only $20... yeah, to be honest, I don't understand why... maybe he felt that you didn't hit that board with your supposed AK (that's what he put you on, anyway) and his 3s might be good... at least you got it back...

I busted out of the Railbirds Tourney on FT with KK tonight, too.

First hand after the bubble bursts, I'm UTG, have 10xBB, and catch the cowboys. Of course I shove. I can't blame the guy who called with 88, but damn, he beat me not with a set, but rather hit a straight on the river. It just feels a little dirty.

Oh well, at least I made the money in a RB buy-in for the first time.

sergeant Oct 25, 2008 8:01 am

I limped in on this hand, thinking an ace might flop. Then I thought I had the nuts on the turn ...............

It appears to me that when playing online the player is betting on the site is gonna give them that miracle card when on a draw. It happens so often that I find myself chasing cards. 9 out of 10 hands they get the miracle card. X
CalculatedMove Oct 25, 2008 4:32 pm
Hmm, his preflop call was pretty bad shouldn't really be looking to play for a set with pkt 3. Either shoving or folding its the only correct options. Which with his stack he shouldn't even be playing 50 NL. A rule of thumb is to have 20 buy ins at any ring game level, but yeah really shouldn't be upset with the hand overall. You got unlucky, got it in good all ya can do can't control the cards.
CalculatedMove Oct 25, 2008 4:35 pm
BTW J/7 isn't really a marginal hand its more of a trash hand because only way you know you are aheadi s by flopping or getting a made hand. Its like what are you going to flop with J/7 where you know you are good....8/9/10, or some kind of set flopping just a pair really puts you in a tough spot.
copheerhed Oct 25, 2008 4:58 pm
it doesn't surprise me, this is "poker". it happens to the best of us. better luck next time. and it is said the one's that stay away from playing trash hands will out last the loose players, the skilled player will win in the long run.
mdafka Oct 25, 2008 7:32 pm

typical case of him putting u on 2 overs and shoving because he "knows" you missed. and theres no way any one could have a bigger pair than 3's..lol

when the cards are turned over, oh well, his read was wrong and yet again the miracle card appears....

Bad luck Tc. keep his name on file, you'll find him again someday and get it back!

=)

MetallicaMami Oct 25, 2008 8:17 pm
i wonder what motivates someone to make a donk play like pushing all in preflop with KQos to 2 previous raisers but hey, we can't all be good
SiresnMe Oct 25, 2008 8:24 pm
so its true! KK is not good this week! I have know idea why that hand was played that way, but am guessing that person dosen't eithier.
