Casino Cash Games Help.

Oct 25, 2008 4:27 am Report Abuse

I never played no-limit cash game before in casino. Sure I played in bars, private places, with friends and half-friends. I am above average live tournament player with decent winnings behind. I work mostly in CT and since Mohegan Sun casino opened new Poker room I could be seen there often. I am always on the time constrains and because of that I play mostly sit-n-go.
So I decided may be I should sit and play a cash game: fun and I can leave anytime . I was watching a 1-2 no limit few times just to see what is happening and to my surprise I did not see any poker. It looked like playing lottery, people will raise, go all in and call with crap. Then more chips people had then more outrages bets they were making.
So I think I will hold off on joining this mess until I do some diligence.
I read some articles, but there is nothing there, that even remotely describes what I observed. Therefore I am asking you RAILBIRDS, who can call themselves “a cash game specialists” for help.
1. Is what I saw normal? Or it’s just exclusion from a normal cash game?
2. May be there a pattern that I fail to see?
3. Any books, articles you can recommend
4. Any advice is extremely appreciated.
This is kind of late and I may not get lots of responses so forgive me for republishing this again.

BE VERY CAREFUL....SOME PEOPLE LIVE AT THE CASINOS, AND OFF OF YOU!
THEY WILL PLAY FOR 24 HOURS AND GOT A BANK ROLL STICKING OUT THERE POCKETS JUST WAITING FOR SOME FISH, AND THEY ALL KNOW EACH OTHER ! THAT WAS SMART OF YOU TO SCOPE OUT THE SCENE, NOW JUST SIT DOWN AND PREPARE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER EDUCATION !!!
GOOD LUCK 2 YA !

Observe the tables before you sit down to play. Watch closely and pick the table that you feel you have the best chance of winning at.

i play low level cash games in vegas,,,,its alot like the quarter limit home game,,,limpede,,,every one wanting to see a flop...some action junkies 4 sure,,,,also see alot of position plays being made,,,,,myself i play pretty close to my internet game,,,,with quality cards raise three to four times the blinds,,,,pot bets with good flops,,,and if you got the nuts at the river dont expect the other guy to make a move for you ...make a value bet and the pushy guy will generally still try to steal,,,good gaming and good luck,,,,dont gamble with more than u can afford

Try limit. Good time, won't bust you out in one hand, and if you get the right book, you'll learn the technical side of the game which will improve your no limit. But because it is a bingo type setting, with limit you can profit from the loose play. I live near a card room with low limits and it's the same there too. One time this guy pushed the rest of his chips in and got up and left. Before he walked though he said " If I win dealer it's your toke" and he did. Good moment to be a dealer. Some of these guys have nothing better to do than to throw their money around. So limit may be where it's at. Sklansky, Miller, and Malmuth co- authored Small Stakes Hold'em , Winning Big With Expert Play. Get it, read it, learn it, live it. Recommended to me here on this site and I in turn recommend it too. My game is on the verge of a huge break through with drastic results in the short term. Long term.... I can't wait!! Good positive expected value to you my friend. Sly... hope that helps.
