Get A Life

Oct 24, 2008 3:05 pm Report Abuse

Recently every time I am playing in a tournament, some one at the table starts abusing me because they don't like the way I played a hand, or the way I play in general. To this I say 'Get A Life', Seriously if some one making a certain move at the table is going to send you irate, maybe it is time you take a nap. If we all played poker or thought things through exactly the same way, it would be a really boring game. So from now on I am going to have my chat turned off, because seriously I don't need other peoples crap. Oh while I am venting, one more thing, whats with mouthing off at someone after you have knocked them out, honestly I see it as the lowest form of character. Well I just wanted to put that out there in the world, Cya

You must never play live poker do you? Can't turn off chat at a live tourney. People slam the table, get up from the table and rant and rave. Online you can't see the person so it is not that bad. Try live sometimes.

Some players use this as a form of play. If you allow it to upset you. It will throw your game off. Just laugh it off and think about the source, {No Game Player}because Poker is a game of emotions as long as you keep yours intack they can't upset you. But if you allow this kind of play upset you, or get to you then you make mistakes.

Yup, I've discovered that if I let morons like this get to me, it screws up my game. Occasionally I get the satisfaction of hitting a good, concealed hand with which I can trap them I siphon off most, if not all, of their chips. But at other times the obsession with trying to defeat them causes me to make stupid plays that cost me dearly. So the best course really is to let it roll off your back and play your game, and let them be the dumb ones who power-flush their chips because they've tilted.

Just ignore them , some people have no class or sense of fun,

anyone who needs trash talk to help their game is very easy

to tilt , just sit back and watch lol , gl !

Some players should understand that everyone can play it how he wants. With each hand I play, I am aware that I can lose, no matter how good the hand is. And if I know that, why should I be upset about other players? If you can not accept this, you should not play poker. I know that many ppl think this thought is too easy..... but for me its true and it helps me everyday to enjoy the game
So pls dont get mad if some ppl talking in a wrong way to you

Great blog &&Assassins , have had this happen a few times recently .

I agree about varied playing styles making a move once in a while . I make a lot of calls players who don't understand independent chip modeling (ICM) may not agree with .Plus the fact if you don't steal pots you will blind out .... and when you get called by a short stack trying to buy a pot with a weakr starting hand I and improve to win I can understand why they are a little miffed ... after playing good poker for a long time to get busted by my semi bluff at the pot.

Also ... putting people off their game is a valid strategy and I make sure to let those people think they have tilted me ... then I may get a bomber hand dcalled by them .

Bottom line ... never let a pinhead get under your skin , play your game .... whether its like Gus Hanson's or Chris ferguson s .... and just let the Phil Helmuth's of teh world stew in their own anger.

I couldn't agree more. I have thought about this many a time. If people only played with AA or KK, or any pocket face cards/suited face cards, the game of poker would be incredibly slow. You have to make the other guy believe you have the best hand. Over %50 percent of the cards you use aren't in your hand. People playing hands that aren't the best is becoming more and more prominent. Yes, some people are still 'donks' about it, but not everyone is. There's going to be a time where someone catches your high pocket pair by hitting 2 pair. Great example - I was watching Poker After Dark the other night and Ferguson had pocket Q's to Hellmuth's 6 5. Hellmuth played it out to the river, caught a 5 on the river for two pair and he won.

With new people coming to poker, new strategies may have to be formed.

I won't talk back since this tends to fuel the fire. I quietly let them run their mouth(s) as I copy their chat and send it to the moderators at the site and let them handle it. That way, If they are issued an infraction, they will never know who it was that reported them, hence no retaliation.
