I bet ya love it when they chase and DONT hit, though..... right?
GL
internet poker has exploded over the past few years because of espn and all the coverage of the wsop, etc. on their network. the pros make it look so easy on t.v. but a tournament that lasts days, they cut down to an hour or two and televise only the exciting hands. i think a lot of new players are influenced by what they have watched on t.v. take AK for example. in a live tournament it is a great starting hand because chances are you won't get called with hands like 10,3 or 2,9 like online. ppl play loose in freerolls because there is nothing to lose!! these guys in the wsop play $10,000 dollars of their own money to play and wouldn't risk playing so loose.
so, i think it's the other way around. live poker being shown on television makes everyone online think they are a pokerpro cause they watched a couple hours of it on t.v. and think they known everything....
Who ever said online gaming was suppose to help live poker ? They are two entirely different entities that share a common game. One is real, and one is virtual, so they will be different ! That should be expected !
You have to understand the difference, and realize that there are two different games with two different strategys. If you don't like the online game or players, then don't play ! Writing this 2 line blog doesn't endear you to anyone here, nor does it help the community in any way ! All this post does is show that you are either immature, or a sore loser, so either grow up, or learn how to play better, you might find that it is yourself, or your abilities that you really hate, not online poker or the people who play poker online!
....Topcat....
very few online players would go all in with trash (relatively speaking) - i think you're hate is with freerolls per se, and not online play. :-)
Believe me from what i'm told you should enjoy the d0nkeys while you can because the higher you play the fewer of them you'll meet!
Something that you are forgetting to take into consideration.
Internet poker can help live poker by giving you a place to learn to play. Isn't that what all the ad's on TV say...."Learn to play better poker at FullTilt.com"?
People play the "online hands" because they are pretty much learning to play better. it is much easier to learn when you don't have so much on the line. You get the same 1500 chips with a $1 buy in as you do in a $100 buy. The difference is the level of play. If you think that all the players at the level you are playing are lucky donks...just put up a little more and play higher buy ins. I have found that as the buy ins go up, the quality of opponent also tends to go up. Sure you will still run into that one guy that thinks 83 is a good hand because it's suited. But, hey, gonna run into that live also.
I stood in a casino watching a tourny, and I did see a midstacked player call an AA all in with 7 4 offsuit. Turns out he hit the full house. My point is, that it does happen in live games also. You just can't get away from it, with the rise in popularity of poker.
