I recently read this blog about how our congressmen/congresswomen voted on the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
http://www.railbirds.com/blog/206184/congressional-ratings-on-approval-of-online-play.html
Please go read that blog!! I had written my representives previously, but apparently they did not acknowledge my views. For everyone of my represenatives recieved F's. So, after reading what the PPA published about there ratings, I was obviously outraged!
So I immediately wrote this letter and sent it to all of my represenatives.....
subject:
In Regards To The Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act(UIGEA).
Dear Senator Sessions,
I write to you today in regards to your position on The Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). I have been playing poker now for approximately five years both online and offline. I view poker to be a game of skill, a little bit of luck and a whole lot heart. You see sir, poker is simply not a card game played by people, but a people game played with cards. I respect your stance on not wanting American money to be distributed to offshore gambling estsablishments. However, I believe onshore gambling establishments, properly regulated like being done in the Isle of Man, could greatly benefit todays suffering economy.
Furthermore, I will no longer support your Senate campaign in years to come if you continue to support the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. I appreciate you taking the time to acknowledge my views on this subject and hope you greatly reconsider your stance on this issue.
Best regards,
John Kitchen

So here's what I ask of you...
1) Copy and paste this message and send it to all of your senators and represenatives in your state. The time you have been playing is irrelevant, The most important line is saying you will no longer support there campaign in the future.
2) bump this blog so all Americans can see it.
3) E-mail every friend you have that plays online poker telling them to contact there represenatives and tell everyone you know offline as well.
Your attention to this subject is critical and demands your attention!!
i appreciate any help you give and hope you all have a good day at the table!!
Best regards.

BUMP, I've already been active in getting the word out. I want to include a little more info in my letters to the 3 Georgia congressman. In the state of Ga., a certain amount of money from Lotto sales is set aside for education. It would cost the government more money to police the laws against online gambling vs. protecting US players by regulating the US market. I won't be including this next comment in my letter, but we all know how much money would be funneled to politicians/Washington for supporting the industry. Much like the auto and oil industries do now. As soon as Washington gets the money they want, online gambling will become legal and regulated. lol

We spend billions of dollars on non-violent drug users , to jail and house them.Whats so disturbing about this is our goverment is the one bringing the drugs into our country and some of you dont realize it. or just turn your heads.Like poker, if our goverment decriminalizes drugs and taxes it just like i say we do with poker, then we can solve our economic woes. Never heard of anyone dying from pot overdose, did you all know that alcohol is the only drug you can die from coming down from! But, alcohol is legal!
It's those kinds of stories that we are up against even those few cases are rare and when they make the news it makes it appear that they are a rule rather than the exception.
Anyone out there live in DENMARK? Tell the people about your clean streets, good economy, less crime than other countrys, all because they put their money into rehabilitation rather than throwing people in jail for what we make against the law here in the U.S.A sometimes are country is a joke! proud to be American, but only if your RICH!
Want me to go on? Just do some research on this?
look up contra(oliver north, bush, and how officials are immune from prosecution!

Dear Mr. Garrett:
Thank you for contacting me with regard to H.R. 2610, the Skill Game Protection Act. It is good to hear from you.
As you may know, H.R. 2610 amends Federal criminal law to exempt from the prohibition against transmission of wagering information the operation or participation in poker, chess, bridge, mahjong or any other game where success is predominantly determined by a player's skill. This bill has been referred to the House Financial Services Committee, of which I am not a member. Should this legislation come to the House for a vote, I will remember your thoughts.
Thank you again for contacting me. If you would like further information on issues of importance to you, please log onto my website at www.house.gov/mike-rogers. Please do not hesitate to call on me in the further.
Sincerely,
Mike Rogers
Member of Congress
i can make my own mind up.
Thanks Again

There has been good progress in making online poker lawful here is the letter i received.
Good news, your congressional representative Bill Foster was a key vote in support of HR 6870, a bill to protect your right to play the great game of poker at the time and place of your choice.
With the help of Representative Foster, this common-sense reform legislation passed the important Financial Services Committee with a bipartisan majority of 30-19. Its provisions are simple. It will prevent federal bureaucrats from banning "unlawful internet gambling" until they can at least define what this phrase means. It will also require an economic impact study of the costs associated with this proposed, sweeping prohibition.
Please thank Representative Foster for standing up for you and millions of other poker enthusiasts.
Finally, tell your poker playing friends the good news, and let them know that they too can become part of the solution by visiting www.joinppa.org and become part of our growing grassroots movement.
