I really thought I seen it all but tonight was definately the topper

Oct 18, 2008 3:53 am Report Abuse

Sat down and played poker tonight, Im not kidding about this. I didnt get into many hands, 15 out of 194 to be exact. Every hand that I was in I was leading after the flop. In 12 hands I was dominating the other person. I bet every hand big, very big. I got called everytime. Once with 5-6o and a flop of 9-4-5. In this hand I had A-9 suited. the other player bet all in on this one, I could just tell he really didnt have a lot, I called and on the river came the 6. Now 5 of the hands I get drawn out with straights 4 gut shots mind you. 3 of the hands I get drawn out with flushes, One hand I flop set of fives and lose to a set of tens. Runner runner I might add. The other hands were more of the same bull sh t. Now everyone at the table are just in misbelief. They themselfs cant believe this has just happened. Bottom line throughout this horrible nightmare I lose close to six hundred playing quarter half. I know this happens on line, but this is getting really extreme. So I will be taking more time away again so have fun every one.

online poker can be very brutal cuz of how many hands you see so quickly. so if youre running bad you can lose a lot really quick. gl and play on.

I feel your pain, but I've learned to adjust my game too since there are so many fish online.

Ask yourself a few questions and then rethink your early tournement play....

Are these freerolls or low stakes games/tourneys? Are you in position? Why are you getting so much money in so soon (pre-turn, pre-river)? Suggest playing "small-ball" until all the donkey's blow out. It's gonna happen online on any site. Don't blame the site, blame yourself and the donkey who is calling you.

The past 3 days, no matter which site I play on, the same thing happens. I try to attribute these slumps to the phases of the moon or planetary allignment. Hope whatever passes soon for all...

First off, MadDawg, he told you he was playing 25/50, so that would be a ring game, not an MTT, and how would you lose $600 playing a freeroll?

About losing the set of 5's - how does a runner-runner set of tens beat a 5's full of 10's boat??

Try posting some HH's and we'll take a look. Hard to envision when a set beats a boat.

I didn't have much time when I replied before, so here's a few more thoughts.

What's the point of betting every hand you play 'VERY BIG'? Because it's NL? What's BIG about A,9 ? or ANY A,rag? Because it was soooooted? Without HH's it's impossible to see what you were betting into. On that A,9 hand - have you ever read the threads about just how much trouble TPTK can be ??

Another thing - it's Friday night. Amateur hours. The sites are FILLED with poker donkeys out for a thrill. It's like a horror show - Night of the Adrenalin Junkies.

By your own count, you lost 9 of the 15 hands you played, leaving 6 winning hands. What is 'disbelief' about that? If you're playing A,9 VERY BIG, there's no surprise in those numbers. By simple math - you were losing pots in the $50-$100+ range in order to lose $600. That's rather strange since looking at the tables on Stars, the 25c/50c games run an avg $4-$16 per pot. So who's kidding who here ???

Now that I think about it, was that $.25/$.50 -or- $25/$50 ?? If it was $25/$50, you're playing way over your head and BR (but I rather doubt that was the case since avg pots at $25/$50 run about ~$400 per hand. If it was 25c/50c, then, like I've said on your blogs before, you have some major leaks in your game.

See you after your poker break. GL.
