Some hands I'd like insight on

Oct 16, 2008 10:26 pm Report Abuse

Alright, so I'm playing $0.25 / 0.50 NLHE on fulltilt. It's a 6 handed game and I'm giving off a TAG style. Raising every pot that I enter first and typically turning over good hands.

This one wasn't a big deal.. it happens, but my question to you birds is. Do you typically slow play your sets or bet them outright? I find if I bet out I usually find myself not making as much as I could, but then again.. in the opposite direction. What happened above can happen.

Here's another hand that got me the majority of that loss back

Full Tilt Poker Game #8513728380: Table Yo-Yo (6 max) - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em - 11:20:23 ET - 2008/10/16

Seems had I played both of the set hands opposite of each other I would have come out more on top, of course I guess I'll never know for sure What do you all think?

As a side note: I lost my first $25 buyin and then rebought for another $25 and cashed out $52.40 .. $2.40 for the night :P better than being down right? ha

Looking back on it, I think I should have just called his reraise on the 2nd set, might have been more profitable.

He liked to bluff btw

On the first hand I would had made a half pot sized bet on the flop because the board has flush and straight draw possibilities. On the 2nd hand you won an all-in so you didn't do anything wrong however, there was no reason to push pre flop, AK is just a drawing hand after all. 3rd hand I think you did the right thing re-raising because board wasn't that bad for AQ for example, your opponent could've had that and get lucky on the turn.

Just my opinion.
Good Luck on future tables

well you shouldnt have slowplayed the set i dont think. not on full tilt atleast haha. and the AK was real aggressive for a cash game but it worked out. i dont know if i would have played for all my money with just AK but that is just me. as for the set of threes. you didnt slow play and you made some money off the guy with it. so wut you didnt stak him you still made profit. so gl and play on. and yes any profit is better than a loss in my opinion. but if you continually just scrape by then you have a problem in your game . gl.

on the last hand when u had bottom set.

check
u bet 1.5
he raises to 3
u should flat call here and let him lead out on the turn.
if he leads out i would flat call again and let him lead out on the river again and shove for value
if he checks i think i would check behind hoping he bets on the river, and if he doesnt bet river u bet for value.

just my thoughts

I alway bet big hands cause then you get paid or push em off the hand and win right there, if you been betting lots peeps won't give you credit for a hand and will pay you off for another street, you want to push the draws off as soon as possible as these hands will hurt you every time. You want to test the drawing hands on every street, these are the hands that pay you 2 out of 3 times so build your stack on them, this sets you up for the bluff on your draw hands cause peeps see you turn over big hands and are scared of you and ur stack

The AK may have been agressive, but I felt I had a good enough read to put the guy on A J, AQ. Even if I had been beat on that read I still had a good drawing hand so I pushed him. He had been throwing her stack around all night.
