The "all-in" as an art form....

Oct 15, 2008 9:32 pm Report Abuse

I recently entered my first "railbirds" freeroll on full tilt and was busted out very early on an "all-in" manoever...

As some of you may have read my MTT "making the cut" blog will know, I advocate a loose-aggressive style at the beginning of these tourneys. The bust out occurred in a late position situation, with the opponent in the cutoff seat behind me...

He was fortunate enough to have doubled up early and I was also creating my "table image" in a positive manner...I had noticed that he was making continuation bets as well, taking down some smaller spots...In my suggestion #3 "knowing your opponents" section, I knew that he was probably playing some shoddy hands...

The flop comes for me pocket 8's, but of course, before I could raise myself, my opponent raised 4 times the big blind...I immediately came over the top "all-in", he called with what turned out the winning hand AK...

Here's the theoritical part, the flop actually came KK3, and I told my friend ,mrj9suited, that I if i only had flat called my opponent's raise initially, I would have IMMEDIATELY put in my remaining chips anyhow after the KK3 flop...comments?

P.S. Sun Tzu's philosophy is to show weakness where there is strength, show strength where there is weakness, and sometimes, goldarnett, don't be afraid to just go and push all-in!!!

Yours in service,

MrLimpitt
