NEW MATRIX format on FTP

Oct 15, 2008 12:40 am Report Abuse

Has any one read or check out this new format of sit and go on fulltilt?? as far as i can tell it seems that you sign up like you would for one sit and go but are placed into 4 matches all vs the same players and the prize pool is split to pay off each tournament. So for example if you buy in to a $10-$1 sit and go thats $90 prize pool but it is split into all 4 matches so if you win one of the 4 matches you end up making $9 for a negative $2 to your bankroll..
what is everyones thoughts on this?? I guess this format would favor the better players- since if you get donked out of one table you still have 3 more chances vs the same players to earn some money.

Yes I played and won one of the. Got less than if I had played just one sng. It's possible in that format to win every table and still end up in second place with the prize structure sit up as it is.

They can be fun, but are designed to help people lose money and in some cases to lose it just a little slower because you still end up in the red even when you win. In fact it is quite possible for all players to end up in the red.

I tried one. I came in first in one and overall came in second. It was $2.00 +.25 and I won a total of $2.40 for a profit of .15. Not a bad idea but the payout is not worth it.

you can't calculate like that. it is fair to compare one $10 matrix to four $2.5 sngs, not to four $10 sngs, because you don't invest $40 bucks, you invest $10

I don't think they are going to last much cuz you have to do well to make some money out of it. I played one $1.25 to try it and finish 7th in two but then won the other two and won the overall giving me a return of $2.70.

So basically is like I had finished second in a normal 9ppl $1.25 SnG.

You can make better money playing in regular sit-n-go's, unless you win all four Matrix games at once for a scoop, but who is going to do that consistantly?

I think it's pretty cool, although it is pretty time consuming

i played on so far took first at one table, second at the second table and out lasted everyone the longest and took first in overal points. for the time and the pay out structure i dont think i'll play again. i rather play a 45 person sit and go.

A dastardly marketing ploy. FT makes the rake, guaranteed, but instead of having losers who don't re-deposit, they give them a glimmer of hope and a count on a re-deposit.

Just finished playing one for $1 +.25 rake. A lot of action to go on all at once with the tables starting at the same time. I was luck and came second in two tables but not without a lot of knockouts. The other two tables i finished the middle of the pack. $1.06 I made back. I found it too hard to concentrate when playing a hand at all tables. Interesting game and concept but I won't be risking any large amounts here.

i played a $1 one cashed in 3 w/ 2 wins and a 2nd and won the points only got $3 something in stead of playing just 1 sng first was $4..50

looks like a way for ftp to make a bunch more rake w less people cashing out.

i played it......did pretty well in it too....but i dont know how often i will actually play this. i like the single table cuz it is pretty str8 forward on how to play those solidly. anyway, they are fun and a change of pace at the poker table. it is a pts race really. you look to do good on the tables so you can pick up the matrix prize pool as well as the table prize pool. anyway, have fun. gl and play on.

If using real money, the return on investment is pretty slim for sure.

But for a bit of something different with playchaips, it was great fun.

Came 1,2,4,5 in mine and got quite a few KO's along the way. A cool way to spend 40 minutes, and 2,000 play chips.

What do you do with the matrix points?
p0ker_j0ker Oct 15, 2008 4:29 am
person with highest points get part of the prize pool- the the prize pool is split 5 ways one pool for each tournament and one pool for the player with the most points
