Poker etiquette.. talking about a hand while it's still being played

Oct 14, 2008 12:16 am Report Abuse

Poker etiquette... seems some players don't understand that it is really not cool to be discussing a hand while it's still being played (especially by those who are not even in the hand). I brought this up today in the freeroll, right on the bubble actually. My requests for having a bit of poker etiquette were scoffed at... hmm.. maybe a bit more poor poker etiquette.. lol.

GL on the tables!!

they only talk about a hand and guess 300 times to show off how AMAZING their reads are....

It is not allowed at most sites, I would warn the SOB and report them if they dont stop.

You can thank Jamie Gold for this.

I witnessed the same thing not long ago. I folded, a few more players were in...somebody raised...and a player went out..

When the flop hit one of the folded players said. "Oh, I had ...(whatever the cards were)...and then went on to say more on the turn card.

Not cool.

These are usually players who think they're top line players. If they only knew how a lack of etiquette really shows how much they need to learn.

Not only is it bad etiquette, it is against the rules of the poker sites, and could lead to suspension of priveleges !

....Tc....

i usually don't talk at all at the table unless i see a stellar hand. some ppl i've seen will say "nh"to the winner no matter how they won it or what they won it with. now that's a little extreme, and i don't expect to be congratulated every time i win a hand or want to be.
VooDooVenne Oct 14, 2008 12:58 am
After my trips lost to a straight( wich i never put the guy on a straight .DAMN) I said "nh nice play" in witch this player responded. . "i don't need a donk tellen me how good i did. . i did it."

Now tell me thats not an a$$hole move

With the amount of flack I use to get about it, I don't even worn people or ask them to stop. I just call for a moderator or e-mail support.

Words of warning: Full Tilt doesn't care what happens in freeroll/play money tournies. Poker Stars will allow ANYTHING at a ring game.

Take care and good luck.

I don't know why this is referred to as 'etiquette'.

If this is tournament poker, freeroll or $1M buy-in, it is simply against the site rules.........ALL poker sites have this same rule. Nobody is permitted to discuss a hand while it is being played.

Simple minds think simple thoughts. Most that do that don't even realize that they are effecting the hand in play.

have readied a response to a hand befor and actually hit the enter button prematurlly,,,,,feeling total discusted,,,, i apolagised as best as i could but it was an accident,,,to do it intentionally is a major no no,,,and anyone doing it should be scolded ,,,,,,,,,,,good gaming and good going
PookieGirl2 Oct 14, 2008 4:12 am
I thought the "rules" were that you couldn't talk about a hand in progress unless it was heads-up and you are in the hand.

Am I wrong on this ?
tricky266 Oct 14, 2008 4:26 am
yea, it is disrespectful. I was really glad when they made it when you couldnt type when a player went all in. People use to say out hands all the time. Got annoying.
