All in, All in, All in

Oct 9, 2008 4:38 am Report Abuse

I feel bad for the folks who had to play with the moron who was all in with every hand in tonights $1re-buy. I watched as hand after hand he went all in, all in, all in. I mean it was totally ridiculous. Then you know we were playing on PS so it really didn't matter what anyone had, you could just see PS reward this dude time and time again. I watched as many players I know to be very good were taken out by this idiocy. I mean the freerolls aren't as bad as this was. Then I read a blog, and i quote "Just joined this site and played just played my first tournament tonight, and will probably will be my last. I found rude and nasty people at my table. I don't play to be talked down to or harrassed.". Now put these together and you can see that things around our tournaments have degraded significantly. Maybe its the economy or the election coming up, and that is bad enough, but this really ticks me off. Sorry to ramble on, but I needed to vent. Have a nice day , oh - and good luck to anyone playing that moron.

Lou-dog Oct 9, 2008 4:45 am

so wait on a hand and bust him

or dont play is what i would suggest

cybermom Oct 9, 2008 4:49 am
I was at that table and that guy took me out........he went all in repeatedly and won with lousy hands. I find it to be very suspicious that it even happened, but we know PS caters to the German players. I hate him........I hope all his tires are flat.
cybermom Oct 9, 2008 4:49 am
Oh yeah, and his name was Intelli Donk........how appropriate
astrogini Oct 9, 2008 4:50 am
Rebuy's are always insane that first hour as people try to build their chip stacks. It certainly is and adjustment to play a rebuy vs a regular tournament.
ptparty Oct 9, 2008 4:53 am
It seems there are always people like that. My experience tonight was having every single pocjet pair beat. I got really disgusted and definitlely went on tilt. I had kings, queens and jacks all beat. Seems that happens on PS all the time. Better to play rags on that site then try to play good poker. Good part though is I played the tourney tonight with their money. Good luck...

Meh, it's a rebuy. I had a guy going all-in every hand at my table too, and he's the reason I was 2bd in chips by the break. I *love* people that play rebuys that way.
JasperJr Oct 9, 2008 4:54 am
His name was not Intelli Donk - It was M...... I understand all the strategy about the rebuy and all that. I know how to sit back and "bust him" - so did all the players he took out with 83o or 92s. I just think it was rude and thats the point. Please don't defend the behavior by justifying it as a rebuy thing - it was far from that.
ButtonDog Oct 9, 2008 4:56 am
Read some blogs throughout the internet on rebuy strategy would be my suggestion. I approach $1.00 rebuys as if they are $5.00 buy-ins. You need to build your stack during that first hour. I don't go all in every hand during the rebuy, but if there is any kind of chance at all I can double up during that time with any two cards I will take it and if I fail I will rebuy.

The password was given out on that thief site for this tournament, but I doubt if many of their members jumped in. They hate anything that's not handed to them free.

hey... come on. i sit next to you the first hour of the tourney and it was funny. after one hour i was in the lead on this table. i only made two allins. one with QQ and one with AK. i made no rebuy and plight tight. so it´s possible to make it with basic and tight play.

there was only one allin donk on our table and after 6 rebuys he left the tourney. i understand your point of view but why did you play those rebuys? everybody knows what happens there in the first hour. and this one was even smooth... i saw many many tourneys which have been even more bad than the rb rebuys.

Just to put this in perspective. Here's a hand from event 5, 1000 rebuy from this years wsop.

Rebuy Madness
Table Orange 19 is in a bit of all-in frenzy today as their table continues to just fire all in preflop to see what luck may bring. Their first big all-in was with four total players, and two hands later there were six all-ins preflop. The hand immediately after saw another five-way all-in. This time one of the losing players didn't rebuy. On the six handed all-in, the hole cards were , , , , , and 5-3. The board came giving Ben Sabrin 20,000 in chips when his held up to make a straight.

This is a strategy used by many players, both amature and professional in rebuys. Get a big stack early, and you have a better chance to final table and get the real money.

Mind you I wasn't there today so I don't mean to say i know how it went but this is just for perspective.

If anybody thinks the $1.00 rebuys are bad try the 10.00 rebuy's some time. Before I knew much about rebuy's and believed that I could win one of them by not rebuying or doing the add on I entered one of the $10.00 ones. It's the worst mistake I ever made in poker. I was not ready for three fourths of the table going all in every hand during the 1st hour, but that's what happened and I was soon blinded into a position of having to get involved in a four way all in.
PlayedYou73 Oct 9, 2008 5:02 am

I've actually seen similar play in some SNG's lately...really bizarre too...had to take a second look sometimes when i was multi-tabling to make sure it wasn't actually a freeroll it was happening at

Markie141 Oct 9, 2008 5:02 am

Well that's the way some people play rebuy's , kinda silly ,

I'm all for getting a good hand and a shot at doubling up but

some people just go allin with any old thing , it does build the

payouts for everyone else but they're going to have to place

very high to recoup that money lol

libertytexan Oct 9, 2008 5:12 am
some people think this is a legitmate rebuy strategy, just adapt your game style to it. You should be HAPPY that hes at your table, giving away free chips, if your not willing to rebuy when you lose then don't play in a rebuy tournament
ButtonDog Oct 9, 2008 5:12 am
That's the point Markie, you don't enter a rebuy with a goal of just cashing. It's first or nothing and you have to have confidence that you can win the tournament. If a person isn't thinking that it's first or nothing they should stay out of rebuy's.
davey52e Oct 9, 2008 5:14 am
I agree it gets to be a pain. But we run into guys like that every once in a while. I haven't played any of the RB rebuys yet, and probley wont. So I can't judge them.
Markie141 Oct 9, 2008 5:23 am

I get the strategy just fine , I play rebuys at Doyles and do

great, but going allin with 82 , 69, T4 against the whole table

is just plain silly and free chips and money for everyone else ,

not that I mind free chips or free money lol ,

I don't think anyone should stay out , if they want to play then

play but you are going to see that stuff

at least until the rebuy addon period is over lol
