tonights quiz.. "16 outs to the nuts"...you sure ?

Oct 9, 2008 3:31 am Report Abuse

16 outs...yeah...so ?
so you have 16 outs.......normally maybe I would call here....

but in this instsance we somehow know that our opponent has a set of Queens.....and we're way behind

we have 16 outs with one just the river to go.....so we have about a 1 in 3 chance to hit

our opponent already has us beat....and is almost 70% to win the hand ...

and for all we know...his other two cards are two of our 16 outs......so even if we do catch...we might either lose to a higher straight or split the pot

BECAUSE WE DONT HAVE 16 OUTS TO "THE NUTS".......what if our opponent has J,10 and the river is a 9 ??? DUHHHHHH........we make our straight to the 9 and lose to straight to the QUEEN ???????????

board is Q,8,2,5...if 9 hits river and opponent has Q,Q,J,10...he has "the nuts"......

who comes up with these questions anyhow ?????

ok if that is the case he has j 10 as his other 2 cards than we still have 13 outs-- read my explination of the implied odds in the quiz forum and you will see that if you hit one of those 13 outs you are still getting a great price to make a call for only $37 into a $74 pot.... if you are afraid of the 9 hitting check the river =P

Omaha is not Quizzies game, IMHO of course lol,

I rarely agree with any of his omaha quizes , gl

wachinpntdry Oct 9, 2008 3:49 am

we have 16 outs....

the guy with the Q,Q....has better hand already...and has as many as 10 outs to make full house or quads.........and depending on his other 2 cards has as many as a total of 26 cards that will improve his hand

but were wrong to fold in that spot even though somehow we KNOW that he has a set of Qs already.....but were supposed to call a pot size bet with a 1 in 3 chance of catching what might only be second best ????????

jackwildcard Oct 9, 2008 3:52 am
so in other words we try to become donks so we can go on tilt for calling a 16 outer or 13 outer pot odds crap hey then we should raise try to get the other person to fold are you kidding me and now we know why there are so many bad beat blogs on this site lets try for the 16 outer lose and write a blog about it !!!!!!! gl on your 16 outers ill fold 37 in toa 74 pot take the 74 and lets play some more poke ..........................................................................rrrrr
wachinpntdry Oct 9, 2008 3:55 am

poker joker......ok.....so now it's 13 outs ?.....so now were down to less than 30%.......

against a hand WE ALREADY KNOW IS WAY WAY WAY AHEAD......

we have 13 outs......and hes got at least 10 to improve and as many as 26 ...and again...he is ALREADY WAY AHEAD and doeant even need to hit one of his cards.....only need to avoid us hitting a less than 1 in 3 chance

p0ker_j0ker Oct 9, 2008 3:58 am
how many outs do you need??? 2-1 on your money and a 2-1 dog is enough to make this call factor in implied odds you are getting better than 4-1 to flat call ( i guess math isnt a factor in your poker game) in the long run this is a profitable play

oh by the way i can play omaha pretty well

you have great oddsto call with if you dont hiit throw it away simply enough
ViperChipIt Oct 9, 2008 4:36 am
LOL at the trophie , funny stuff.

a 1 in 3 chance for 2 to 1 on money.......thats good odds ?

"I had to call..I had pot odds"..........hear that alot after people make a bad call and lose...

"pot odds" and "implied odds" are the most overused excuses for chasing and/or making bad calls

" but I was priced in"........lol.........a losing hand is still a losing hand no matter how big the pot is

in tournament play, depending on chipstack and how close to the money (or already ITM)........a large or potentially large pot might make sense to play with 2nd best in the hopes of hitting a card for big boost in position...because that may lead to a large boost in actual cash payoff.....

but ...in a cash game.....if like in this situation somehow you know you're beat......chasing a less than 1 in 3 ...for 2 to 1 .....or even 4 to 1 on your money.....makes no sense whatsoever.....

you're 28%.......he's already ahead and ....... at a minimum,...close to 23% ...and as much as 52% to improve .....how does that add up to good odds for you ? ........ is that the "new math" ?

behind in the hand....and almost same % chance to improve as the guy thats already ahead.

some book might tall you with that hand and that board you call.......and I would too...I might even raise......but if as the question says.....I know that the other guy has a set of Qs.....

there's just no way to justify a call ....not in a cash game....not for real money....

yeah..throw it away....along with the $50+ you already put in 7% of your BR on draw where you knew you were behind ........
I wish more people with that logic would come to Foxwoods poker room with $750 to burn .....
wachinpntdry Oct 9, 2008 5:30 am
I'd have a bigger boat by next spring........
nasnas Oct 9, 2008 5:35 am
All I can say is I hope I run into the quiz writer on the felts.
wachinpntdry Oct 9, 2008 7:13 am

there's some more brilliant logic to justify calling in the official Quiz thread in the forum....

people saying "we're only a 2 to1 underdog" ...actually more like 3 to 1.....and "implied odds of bla bla bla"........
