So, last night my old man and I went to our poker league game, I still can't find my sunglasses so I really wasn't that optimistic. We started the first game around 7 and I was doing well. I played very little hands and was finally knocked out in 8th place. I had pushed all in with pocket jacks and lost to KQ. I had to push because of the blinds, so I wasn't upset for losing, plu sI was in the points. The second game didn't start until 10 and it was only 9 when I got knocked out, so the hubby and I ate and enjoyed some quality time together.

So I am all ready for the second game and this time I am sitting with the non-smokers. I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but the non-smokers are very tight compared to the smokers. Sitting at the non-smoking table agrees with my style of play. However, I made one bad call, so I was barely hanging on at the first break, (well, I was right around ten times the blind at this point). So, I knew that it was time to start pushing. I forgot to mention, there are only 6 players at the table now. I started stealing blinds when I could, and pushing with K9, two face cards, or any ace. Soon, I had given myself quite a cushion.

Around this time, the game had gone to one table, and I was among the chip leaders. No one player was really dominating and with the blinds so high, I was still playing somewhat aggressive to steal blinds. (I heard the word donkey a couple of times) By the time we chipped up and I was dominating I knew I was going to win it all. However, the final three, one being my old man, was throwing a wrench in my plans. My hubby and I heads up games together, so I didn't want to go heads up with him(he knows most of my secrets). I had to fold some good hands in order for the other two to take each other out. It was a back and forth battle among us three, but soon it was down to the two women. I quickly won the tournament (she only had double the blinds to start heads up), and I received my 10 dollar gift card, my Snowman poker card protector, and a victory! It was a great game and I learned that if I sit back and wait for the hands, I will be forced all in by someone else or lose my chips to blinds. So I took the control and I started pushing, and in the end I was victorious!

***this is a pic of my new card protector i got for first place in the tourney. It's a little bigger thean a chip and goldplated. I took the sticker that says first place off the back. It's not much but i think its cool!

Good for you!!

Nice to see someone who plays for the fun of the game and the joy of winning, and not just to win money. (Although there's nothing wrong with that, of course).

That is a great feeling, winning for the first time. I remember the first time I did. I was constantly in the top five, just couldn't quite get a win. Then I finally broke through. I didn't really care what I won, it's just the pride of winning. Let them throw out the word donkey. If the table tightens up, why not steal the blinds? Maybe they should have just been as agressive as you. Congrats and keep up the good play!

Nice job, Poker like life has a lot to do with an equilibrium you reach. In this case, the ability to read the table and adjust accordinly. Those leauge games can be real crazy specially with blinds going up so fast. Best of luck.
