CHAPTER 4 TESTING 1,2,3 TESTING

Immediately after the little card casino opened it's doors, we dealers started to form a group and one thing we were interested in was Hold Em. Only one of us had ever played before, at least with people. I had played it in a video game I had as I had a little side business selling games, system's ,etc on ebay for a while. So the first thing we did was start a little home game consisting of 5 to 8 regulars, virtually all dealers and a couple significant others. It was awesome, 25/ 50 cent limit, 10 dollar buy in and we were in holdem heaven. We played at least once a week usually 2 or 3 times whatever our work schedule would allow. We would start as soon as we could get off work and play till the wee hours of the morning and we got close. I still talk to some of them 5 years after moving from that area of the country. We had a bond and I trusted their opinion; after a month or so I let em in on my " system".

Most of them scoffed, I heard " if it was that easy someone would have thought of it already" that was not far from the truth I found out later.They were already busy memorizing basic strategy and counting, the ones that were into black jack The dumbest question I had about it was " yeah , ya raise your bets if you lose but what do you do when you win?" I laughed and said, " you smile and take their money !" I understood, of course, he was used to the normal BJ play and couldn't get past that. Some of them kinda got it but not really with the exception of Dustin, my young ( 22 ) dealer friend, with him it clicked and we decided one night to take some cards and some chips and sit down for a dry run, so commenced the testing in earnest.

I will take a break here to tell you I am a believer. I am one of those people who will never be satisfied with a regular 9 to 5. I believe that people who get rich think outside the box and refuse to accept that the normal life is as good as it gets.There has to be a better, easier way to " make it ". I bought a make money with real estate system and let it gather dust, for lack of confidence. But I still believe that somewhere out there is my niche, something that I can do or invent or perfect that will change the world, or at least mine, for the better. Yep, I am a dreamer and it is one of the things I love about me,something I hope I never lose. Anyway, back to the test........

It probably would have been a better idea to test it later as we had been partying till about 2 am and had no sleep yet, but we went to my place and set up a six deck shoe, with chips and a pen and paper and commenced to test. We were both so excited, especially me as someone had finally given it the respect I thought it was due.

We set it up with variations on the model, different positions , different number of players everything we could think of to give it a rigorous test. We ran it for 6 + hours and countless shoes and it worked. IT WORKED !!!!! We found that variance would catch up to it approximately one out of every 6 sessions. 5 out of every 6 you would double your buy in and one you would lose. To say we were jazzed would be a serious understatement, it was sobering and we had run out of beer hours ago.

We were so excited that we could make money with this system that we took 500 dollars of my money and made a plan to kick the shit out of the local native American casino as soon as it opened in a few hours. It had a 3 dollar minimum 500 dollar limit table, perfect. I would run it first and when I made enough for Dustin to have his own 500 dollar stake we would double em both and laugh all the way to the bank, we were on our way to being professional black jack players, masters of the universe, kids and the world was our candy store. We cleaned up, gathered our determination and headed out to give it a real world run .Oh boy , oh boy, oh shit !!!!

PS for those who only want to know abot " the system" I will , in time do a blog solely on it , however it will not be till I am done with the story.
