So I Need RBs Help!

Oct 5, 2008 8:55 pm Report Abuse

So after 4 years of having no problems with computers, my computer today decided to get spyware infected it on it somehow. So I am looking for somebody whos good with computers, or has gone thru this before. I have a blue background screen and the exact words that appear on it are

"Warning:spyware threat has been detected on your pc. Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity. It is strongly recommended to install an antispyware software to close all security vulnerabilities. Antispyware software helps protect your pc against spyware and other security threats."

Then underneath that is a link that says Update Your Antispyware Protection. Thats just somebody wanting you to buy their stuff.

So any help would be appreciated.

My advice is to wipe ur drive and reinstall. You can try avg and/or windows defender to see if they can clear it for you but chances are it has attached itself to your OS so the best thing to do is start over. It sucks, will be time consuming and you will lose a lot but once infected it is nearly impossible to clear it completely.

go online and look for free virus on line scanning. there are several good ones. Norton has one and scan your system before you buy anything.

If you are getting it when u browse a web page and it pops up and asks you to install it. I would open the task manager and close that program down really fast. Cuz I get them sometimes and if I click the close box it starts downloading it. I think it's something to install spyware on your computer.

I am not sure you can do anything yourself, there is a clean up disk that can do it for you, and any good computer repairman would have on. You can install avast antivirus for free when it gets cleaned up, and it will keep that from happening again...Tc...

I use microsoft onecare antivirus. It includes windows defender. I've used it for several years now, and haven't had any problems. before I purchased it, I used norton, and had problems with stuff getting by the program.

I had this same thing happen to me... it is actually a form of a virus. You got it by opening an email.. I had another user on my home computer and that is where it came from...I was finally able to find the file that was causing the message to pop up all the time and get rid of that file... BUT... to this day, if I open up that user page, the background is blue and nothing has been able to change that. The best suggestion I can give you is to take your computer to a professional and have then clean it up...

I have AVG software, which is free and it does a very good job of filtering spyware and viruses... Used to use Norton but AVG is as good if not better and it is free!

Good Luck. I hope you get it all worked out
