continuous shuffle on line?

Oct 4, 2008 10:58 pm Report Abuse

Ok, from what I understand, online poker uses "continuous shuffle" method, or at least its what I've read here.

that would mean if your table is playing fast the cards would be dealt quicker, and with slow play, the cards would be shuffeled more.

if thats true, the speed at which you play could actually change the outcome of a hand?

what are your thoughts

That is a very intersting theory.. How do you test this out?
ButtonDog Oct 4, 2008 11:05 pm
That's correct. I believe it was the Fossilman that said a one second delay in your betting could change the next card dealt on line.

the way i understood it, it was shuffled after the flop, then after the turn, thats what i thot was continuous. I could be wrong...............dj

Notice that the people caught cheating at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet could see the hole cards and it was never mentioned that they could see the next card hitting the board. So I guess the continuous shuffle is accurate.

RANDOM!!!

I was talking with a friend last night about the pros/cons of online poker and the old 'continious shuffle' debate came up...

Like Elmoooy says, you have brought up a very interseting theory.

I'm interested to hear what other Railers' think?

Sardonix Oct 4, 2008 11:10 pm
i've heard that too but its too random to figure out i think. If you figure out the secret let me know!!! I'm gonna research it. I actually heard that if you raise preflop at poker stars you 20% more likely to hit on the flop, it was done by some research team or something thats why you see a lot of people doing the 1x bb. i dont know if i believe it but im not going to spend money trying to find out.

U could try using play money.

So it is my fault when the player hits the 2 outer, as I could have waited longer before calling and changed the card? Only myself to blame, that is why I haven't played poker online in about 2 weeks. That an NHL 09. Enough to keep me occupied for a while.

Stars does not use a continuous shuffle, once the cards are shuffled before the deal they are locked just like a live game.
Elmoooy Oct 5, 2008 1:47 am
No smart ass comments but how do you know that? Just wondering.
libertytexan Oct 5, 2008 1:48 am
Continuous shuffle is used to prevent cheating where the cheaters can see what cards are coming. It has absolutely NO effect on the odds of your hand hitting. Whether the cards are shuffled or not, unless you cheated, it would have no effect. If you think about it, online shuffling is more random than real life, no human being can shuffle the cards 100% randomly (neither can a computer, but much closer).

desire you are 100% wrong

they shuffle pre flop then they shuffle flop and reshuffle the turn .

that is the reason the cards do not fall as they do live ......

CtPokerholic Oct 5, 2008 1:56 am

ok, so this is where I was going with this...

and I'm pretty sure there's no way to test this but ..

If there someone on the table, pushing, pushing, and catching allthe time ..

is it time to start timing out?

Elmoooy Oct 5, 2008 1:57 am
Try that and see?

Pokerstars has stated over and over again that they do not use the continuous shuffle. Once the deck is initially shuffled it is fixed for that hand. Full-tilt has stated that they use the "continuous shuffle", meaning that the deck is in constant shuffle until the next card is ready to be dealt--at which time it stops and deals the card. I can't say for the other sites, because I've not read anything about their RNGs/

stone789 ? .. shuffle and stop, or continuous shuffle?
stone789 Oct 5, 2008 1:59 am
liberty yes it does change the odds lol r u kidding me . if they werent shuffled as in live poker those are true odds wen you reshuffle the deck YOU CHANGE THE OUTCOME OF THE CARDS which in turn means the cards are not falling as in live poker. and the reason they cant fall the same is cause the are re shuffled .. ..which means new fall of the cards change the odds of wat wouldve been of the cards ....
stone789 Oct 5, 2008 2:00 am
they shuffle after each street .....NOT A SET DECK...as in live poker
Elmoooy Oct 5, 2008 2:01 am
If thats true - do you think we are at an advantage when the cards are still shuffling in play? Or are we at disadvantage?
