MAN vs. TILT

Oct 4, 2008 8:28 pm Report Abuse

TOPIC FOR THIS BLOG: TILT

Simple Definition of TILT- To make bad decisions out of frustration.

We have all either been on  TILT or observed someone on TILT...Am I correct? (YES)

I believe the only way to deal with someone on TILT is to fold until he/she either is moved to another table or take him/her down yourself...

ALSO

I belive the only way to prevent TILTING yourself is to think before you CLICK...

My THOUGHTS while observing someone on tilt:

  • Why?
  • What a MORON
  • Should I call?
  • What if he/she gets lucky?

My FEELINGS while observing someone on tilt:

  • I only feel FEAR...

My THOUGHTS while being on tilt are:

  • F@#K, STUPID DONK, B%&CH (basically every swear word in the book)
  • How could I lose that hand?
  • I just want to be out of this tournament...

My FEELINGS while being on tilt:

  • Anger and Frustration
  • Hearts beating RAPIDLY
  • STRESS levels are through the roof
  • Weird gut feeling
  • Feel like VOMITING

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS BLOG MY FELLOW RAILBIRDS...PLEASE...

Thank you Very Much, ATTATTACK

being on tilt is different than getting rattled after a loss. you just gotta regain your composure and play tight like you should be.

I can relate to the feeling of wanting to be out of the tournament ; yesterday I went out early in a tourney but I am not sure if I was on TILT though .... I just felt like I was not hitting anything and when I did I played it bad......something like that. But the next morning, after being frustrated all night , I got a PM that a very dear friend was rockin' the felts and I spent the morning railing him together with friends and that made the TILT feeling disappear.....and I felt like I was up for it again! (only to be busted out early in the freeroll.....didn't think before I clicked )

Keep on rockin the felts all!!!!!!

somebody on tilt is a push-over,,easily knocking them over to knock them out,,,if you reconize someone on tilt the value bet is out the window,,make big moves on them,,,put them all in and they will generally call on emotion and boom you have
alot more chips than a normally played hand
hince if you see a crying baby take their candy no one will notice
good gaming and good luck
btw great blog

Firstly - great Blog AttAttack. Chur!!!

You pretty much have the thing covered by the looks of your blog.

One thing the Fuzz would like to add is - LEARN. Whenever I've been on TILT, I'll check through hand histories and see if/where I went wrong.

I'll also sometimes watch other peoples games (who were at my table whilst tilting) to see if they got lucky etc.

But overall, great blog.

Great blog. I like that you have analyzed what you are going through both facing a tilter and tilting yourself.

First thought on it-- a tilter at the table is an opportunity. If you find yourself with a great hand, you can make some money. Yes, he's erratic. But he could well be feeling "hell with this stupid game when even my xx can't win" so he could just screw up at that point because he's not thinking right. Take his chips. It's OK. Part of poker is taking advantage of poor play of others as well as taking advantage of great hands.

Tilting yourself sets you up for an attack by others. So you need to figure out how to control it, put the loss and anger and fear aside, and get on with playing. Perhaps it is as simple as taking a time out or saying to yourself "ouch!". Acknowledge your feelings and thoughts. And take a breath or ten. You need to find a way to get back to the game fresh and ready to think. And only you can find out how to psych yourself out of tilting. You have a great start on exploring what makes you tick. Good luck!
