Is there anyway to get someone to sponsor you if you're real good, and is how?

Sure you can get staked. First you have to be proven as good. In other words you have to have a name for yourself and have won something big before. Then you have to befriend a person who believes in you well enough to put up your buy-in for you, and to top it all off, you have to agree to a prize money split, which from my understanding, often has a cut off that works in the following way, YOU have to make enough money to make the other guys money back, plus a predetermined amount, THEN on top of that amount, you have to cut any additional monies to the guy. In other words, the guy may decide that he wants to get a guarantee of 100% of your money up to $15000 for a $10000 buy-in stake, and past that amount, he wants 25% of all the money you win. In that case you would have to make higher in the money to show any profit. I have never been staked and have never been even anywhere near good enough to be staked, but this comes from having overheard a couple of guys haggle over a staking at Harrah's New Orleans a few years ago.

Just a thought ! Sure don't want to be negative. To get a name for yourself try and get to the Pokerstars tournament leader board top 1,000. You could use this info to get staked. Or for you to know you would have a good chance in a giant tournament. this list of top players is under requests at Pokerstars. The bigger the total pots the more points. Our ranking is at the bottom of the page. Gl! Life is full of setbacks. Keep trying and you will have many happy moments.
