Double Or Nothing on Pokerstars

Oct 3, 2008 2:27 pm Report Abuse

Sooooo anyone checked this out already?

So to get back to the original question, has anyone played these yet? What do you think is the best tactic to takin these baby's down. Early aggression, extreme passive play? Well good luck to all who decide to play them, seem pretty fun to try out, and good bankroll starters.

Ok ive played a few so far. Its really easy to cash, if you play premium hands and tight up to the bubble killing the shorts. I can really recommend this to people with very low bankrolls. with 50% chance of cashing it seems to me easier to build a br then on normal 9 man sng's. Only downside is that their Turbo. Ive played 4 $5.50 so far and cashed all 4. I think I'm gnna continue with these today and go to the 11$ tomorrow. Good luck to all!!

Heeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaw DNC Rulezzz the Felts!

Tom, if I play one I think I will play big hands early and try for the double up....and if I am not getting hands maybe others will get reckless and knock each other out for me I once placed 3rd in a sit n go where I only played one hand!!

I guess I would feel the table out and go from there!! God luck to you if you try them out, let us know!

Huh, that's pretty interesting. I haven't seen those yet. I don't think I would change my game any just to get in the top five, I think I would continue to go for the win. If the tables playing tight, which sounds like what might happen, i would loosen up. If it's loose, I'd tighten up my game.

Well it seems to me that when u double up your pretty much in. Had that and folded my way to the money.
VooDooVenne Oct 3, 2008 2:53 pm
play very tight. . i played 13% of my hands an made it to the top 5. . i was 4th out of 5,but thats all i needed
topcat1954 Oct 3, 2008 2:54 pm

This is the 3rd or 4th blog I have saw on this game, so I guess it is time to go play one, and see what it is all about !

Now that I look at it, you only win $1.80. So really I think it's worth the effort. Don't see where there's better pay for 5 or above, or am I wrong?

Me_Tom Oct 3, 2008 3:18 pm
yes in a 180 man mtt top5 does pay better but if you get the hang of it you should be able to make a profit fairly easy. I'm currently on 3 out 3 wins in the 5.50$

speaking of sngs and playing one hand...got AA 5th hand last nite and put someone on a flush draw after flop...the BB folded after calling the preflop raise of 120..so im heads up against the draw and turns out i was on a good read...he missed the flush and i double up plus some...lost connection...came back and the tournie was heads up about 20 mminutes later with my 2600 chips up against 10000...lost connection again and settled for second playing 1 hand
topcat1954 Oct 3, 2008 3:34 pm

Well, I did it, and it took 33 minutes of my time ! I played 5 premiumn starting hands, and had a couple of BB hands win small pots for me, it was really pretty easy.

Congratulations!
Thank you for participating.

I'm doing ok with the $5 gm. Playing premium hands early then aggressive at the bubble. If you're a patient player I think the $5+ gms are a good b/r booster, don't take long and pretty easy to cash. I like 'em .

TOPCAT YOU ONLY WON 20$ FOR FIRST PLACE???WHEN U BOUGHT IN FOR 11??SEEMS TO ME THATS NOT RIGHT..YOU DONT WIN MUCH SO I DONT THINK I WILL PLAY THESE LOL
MarnieT Oct 3, 2008 3:50 pm
Where else can you double your money in 33 minutes? I love poker!
topcat1954 Oct 3, 2008 3:51 pm

DonkSlayer, I was just the chip leader with 5 left, as long as you have any chips left at 5 players you essientally win, and it was really easy to get the $9 profit ! If a guy wanted to do 4 of these at a time, and do it 5 times a day, cashing in 15 of the 20 of them, he could make $100 a day, in under 5 hours.....based one this one experience, and simple math !

Okay Tom, lol..I went and tried one of these. But I only got in one of the $1.10 sng ones hehehe...pretty easy to make the money, but I guess I had have to get into the ones like your playing at $5.50 to see decent profit out of them. I might just go try it.
just_blaze79 Oct 3, 2008 4:48 pm
bij mij was t ook zo, dubbelop en rustig wachten maar EASY MONEY
buick60 Oct 3, 2008 5:17 pm
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 39 hands and saw flop:
- 1 out of 4 times while in big blind (25%)
- 1 out of 5 times while in small blind (20%)
- 0 out of 30 times in other positions (0%)
- a total of 2 out of 39 (5%)

Dealer: buick60 wins the tournament - congratulations!

Seemed to work for me.Boy the short stacks get pretty desperate cause it's a Turbo.
nasnas Oct 3, 2008 5:36 pm
8 for 8 on these, they werent turbos yesterday though, I think it kind of sucks that they changed them.
nasnas Oct 3, 2008 5:45 pm
I just e-mailed support asking them to give the choice of turbo or not in these. I hope more birdies will do the same.
ljg423 Oct 3, 2008 5:55 pm

I tried these yesterday. Played 4. Problem is you need to consistently win. Played the 1.10 level. Didn't play the first 2 correctly. Tried to play aggressive and lost. Sat back and waited for the next 2 and won. No profit though. There is only a .90 profit for each one. 1.10 x4 is 4.40, won 2, profit of 4.00, down .40. If you can win 3 out of 4 you're okay. Still not as big a profit as a regular SNG though. Could be good for boosting your bankroll though. You have to be really patient and only play the premium hands seems to me.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your email. It's possible we may end up running both, as I
said we are still testing them out and will make a decision based on the
popularity of each type of event.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to get back in
touch with us.
