This is a sincere attempt to get a clear understanding on how you see a certain issue…Should Banned Railbirds be allowed to play in our Private tourneys?
PLEASE KEEP THIS DRAMA FREE!!!
How do you feel about BANNED RAILBIRDS participating in YOUR private tournaments and Series Events? Most of the clans and a lot of individuals host private tourneys and events that are open to ALL members of Railbirds giving them an opportunity to win some money and win a trophy to place on their RB Home Page if there's one provided.
I do understand that many people don't know who is an Active Railbird, Non-Railbird or Banned Railbird. But lets look at the larger scope of things....
When we allow Banned Birds to enter a tourney are we taking away the opportunity for a dedicated and active RB to win? Sometimes it's not about the Money it's more about getting that Trophy and representing Railbirds and/or your Clan. I understand that you may invite whoever you like so this isn't that serious of an issue.
Let's look at Series Events on the other hand: These events are held over long periods of time and people work extremely hard to play their best game consistently and achieve points to make it to the Play Offs and Main Events. Once again when we allow Banned Birds to play in these events are we robbing the hard working, dedicated, and Active RB Members of their opportunity to represent?
Everyone on Railbirds has earned the right to play in any tourney they are invited to or where the password is publicly placed. A Banned Bird has forfeited those rights when they did whatever it was that got them banned.
Here's a good example of what could and almost did happen, and hopefully this is an eye opener for for ALL RAILBIRDS. The other day we had a Railbirds VS. R.Radio Tournament and a BANNED RAILBIRD came in 2nd place, A 4 time banned RB at that, playing on behalf of Railbirds! He has been banned 4 times! 2 times under 1 name and 2 more times under 2 different names!
Can a Banned Railbird "represent" Railbirds?
We would be the laughing stock of ALL POKER FORUMS if it was found out that a BANNED RAILBIRD won the tournament!
How does it affect the? The TOC entry goes to the winner of a Private Tournament. Who gains entry into the TOC if a Banned RB wins, 2nd place? How could anyone feel good about that?
IT'S UP TO ALL OF US TO PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY AND NOT GIVE OUT PASSWORDS.
Are we doing the right thing by letting Banned RB Members play in OUR Tourneys? Is there a good answer and if not is there a solution?
Example #1: I'm sure it would be helpful if we didn't post the Passwords on blogs. Just mass PM them instead.
Example #2: Pre-Register your players into the tourney.
Example #3: Announce if you tourney is "TOC Eligible" or not
If anyone could please help those of us that don't understand why it's tolerated we'd greatly appreciate it.
Please just offer your thoughts, feelings and or justifications on this issue. Also please offer any suggestions to keep people from getting in OUR tourneys if you feel this shouldn't happen.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR COMMENTS RESPECTFUL.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and helping protect your community. Cya on the felts!

I have to respect the prorails, If they got banned they would have been banned for a reason ! No matter how they try to justify it, they must have broken the rules......If there willing to break the rules in the forum will that relate to there poker playing ?
So i'm dilly dallying around an answer really...I would have to say NO they shouldnt be allowed to play in "RAILBIRD TOURNEYS" If its a private tourney advertised @ RB's then thats another kettle of fish ....Isn't it ?

well I definately do think that the presence of a banned member at a final table is a little discouraging. It is to me anyway. I have wondered how banned birds get the passwords in the past. I recently found out that a banned bird can still visit the site and see all the pw's that are on the blogs. So maybe not publicly posting passwords would cut down on this. However many people are skeptical to spamming yet want the biggest turnout possible for their tournament. That said I don't think the blogging of pw's will cut down any.
As for the bird imparticularly mentioned in this blog. He almost won the powwow in honor of me held this month as well. I was so thrilled the powwow had the turnout that it did and appreciated everybody coming out to play. But I was honestly a little saddened at the thought that he mmight win. I am not sure what he does to constantly get banned but I have played with him many of times and he always seems to be a cool guy(at least to me).
I am not sure if I had anything real to offer here. Just my input. Great topic for a blog.

its quiet simple.....people have to stop tellin people passwords. why would they, it lowers der chances of winning but yet they still do. There is also websites wer people post passwords to different tourneys. i have seen railbirds freeroll passwords there myself. its just one person who could be bringing in 50 non birds. that person prob wont play den. just gets a kick out of lowering peoples chances of winning.
Thats my two cents anyway.
I posted this blog a while back. I don't think it is fair for banned birds to be playing in tourneys that affect the TOC.

I'm not sure of the complete rules of this forum...and not quite sure how one would get banned. It must have been a serious thing they did to get banned so therefore they shouldn't play in or represent themselves as a railbird in any game associated with this forum. Even if they placed tenth it still puts all other respectful railbirds in the same boat. So perhaps the PM'ing of paswords is a good idea.

The only way to keep em out is to screen everyone who wants to play and preregister them, and sometimes that fails when they've created dummy RB accounts. We need to keep an eye on banned birds userid's and then when they show up in a tournament and say that "I'm so and so, I built a new account to play here you idiots", you can report them for multiaccounting, and have them banned by the poker site. Someone brought to my attention that one of the names on the "Pay-it-forward" tournament list was a banned bird who'd opened a dummy RB account.
I Believe, as in the instance above, that a Banned or Non Railbird should not be allowed to play in a Raibird advertised event (ie Railbirds vs ***** or a Railbirds FR or GTD); however, as many of us are members at more than one site, our friendbase and comraderies also extends beyond the borders and confines of Railbirds.
If I am hosting a private tournament I hope I would be able to invite others, perhaps they may consider joining because of it. Additionally I have been invited to other forums tournaments as well.
Also, pros from Tilt are not generally Railbirds, and I would certainly love to have them attend a tourney of mine
(NOT THAT THEY WOULD LIKELY WOULD LOL)

People are known to pass the passwords out, they sometimes show up on other forums as well, as there are some duel members.
I would say, there really is no way that they can stop this from happening, except the last post about giving tickets or something to that nature may help.
Perhaps allowing them to play and if they win, do be it, but if playing for points then I would just dock them, and no trophy. I would have a playoff and then award the trophy or points.
Just my take on the idea

I have discussed this particular issue a few times since Bud and I had our Pow Wow tourny. The added money going to a banned bird was an issue with some of our donator's. We have figured out a way to stop that from happening next time. We will keep track of who gets our pw. If you are in our tourny, but not on our list, u are not elegible for bounty's or added money. Thats the best solution we could come up with
As for stopping this particular person from playing, i think it is impossible, He has enough friends on here to keep getting the pw.
As for our own private tourny. The PW has always been the same. So there is nothing we can do about it. Anyways, going through so much trouble to keep one person out would just be a hassle. This person does not really bother me, he is always respectful at our tourny's. Also, we want as many players in our tourny as possible with out having to deal with so many pm's requesting the pw.
I agree with you though. I just think it's an issue that can not be solved. Added money, bounty's and trophy's can be kept from banned birds. Keeping them out of tourny's will be rather difficult. Good blog.
This may sound like herasay but it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe that's because I do not play in them too often but when I do it's because I enjoy the company of the RBs that are there, the fact that there are others playing doesn't effect me. I guess if I was big into the rankings or clan things it might be different but I enjoy Railbirds for all of the other great things about the site.
I guess I have felt this way for a long time. The first time that this happened, a way long time ago before most everyone here was even on the site, a member asked a well known pro to join one of our freerolls. The pro said yes and the member gave him the password, thinking this was a great thing - a well know pro playing in a railbird freeroll! Well this caused a stink that you wouldn't believe. The pro was berated and eventually left because of the bad mouthing that he took from members. The RB that gave him the password was banned for doing something that he felt was a great PR thing for this fledging site. It was the first time that I realized that there wold be a lot of drama on this site. It is still my opinion that givg out the password is OK in some cases (like the one above, where a non-railbird that we'd all like to know would spend some time with us playing poker).
Anyway I understand the rules and abide by them even though I believe that there are times when a rule can be broken. Hey but that's just my $.02...b0w
