PTT Season Two Main Event Results!

Season Two - Main Event Results Blog

A field of 27 players came out earlier tonight for the biggest tournament of the season. The Main Event field was a mix of PTT champions and those who were seeking their first title. But there was more at stake than the Grand Championship there were also a few bounties and of course the Player of the Season race. Coming into the Main Event, this is what the top ten in the standings looked like.

Current Top 10
1st: Papapower -- 486.0 pts.
2nd
: cj28000 -- 277.5 pts.
3rd: 77Woody77 -- 243.0 pts.
4th: Djgeter -- 219.0 pts.
5th: p0ker_j0ker -- 210.5 pts.
6th: Hickoid -- 175.5 pts.
T-7th: Konawajim -- 165.0 pts.
T-7th: BigJoeJones -- 165.0 pts.
9th: PearlJamJV -- 153.0 pts.
10th: SilentBobAK47 -- 130.5 pts.

With 27 entries, that meant that only cj28000, 77Woody77, djgeter and p0ker_j0ker were in contention to win the Player of the Season. And all four of them had a tough task ahead of them if they wanted to win. One of the four had to win the Main Event and have papapower not score any points in order to win the Player of the Season award.

77Woody77 was the first of the contenders to exit the tournament when his ace high could not beat the pocket pair of Topcat1954.

The remaining players were in the money! Congratulations!

After leading for most of the tournament, Topcat1954 was put on the short stack after a big hand. And while it looked like Topcat1954 had a good chance to double up three handed with pocket queens, it wasn't to be when PearlJamJV woke up with pocket kings.

HEADS-UP

Heads-up play then began between cj28000 and PearlJamJV. Incredibly, if cj28000 could defeat PearlJamJV, CJ would have erased a big lead to win the Player of the Season award! And after a grueling duel, that is exactly what happened when all the chips got in pre-flop with cj28000 holding a dominating hand that turned into trips and the win!

Congratulations to the PTT season two Grand Champion: cj28000!

Great job CJ. And thank you Bob for having these tournaments every week. I played in a few and will probably play more next season.
DarkOdin Oct 2, 2008 12:02 pm
great job CJ, hell i should send you 5$ for getting me some damn justice for knocking him out, because he was obviously ripped to put 70% of his damn stack in on T7.
PearlJamJV Oct 2, 2008 2:45 pm

congrats cj, great win, great job on the POY win, you are one tough player cj, amazing heads-up, tried everything I could to get an advantage but it was not to be, I made too many mistakes in the HU, that's what I get for being busy, rusting up my game, and not playing much lately,

my apologies to my razor brother papapower for not being able to get the win and helping ya win the POY,

Great tourney, had a ton of fun, thank you so much Bob for organizing the PTT, def one of the best series I've been a part of, has so many diff games that it has expanded my horizons on poker playing, had a great time playing, I want to thank all my opponents this season as without their great play, presence, and good nature, I would not have been able to play as well as I did, hope to see you all next season.

my apologies go out to those who I eliminated by getting lucky last night, since I did not have my normal sense from playing regularly, I decided to go with my gut and how I felt about a hand, for example, the hand against DarkOdin, I thought to myself even if DO has A-A, I probably have one of the better hands to go against A-A with a mid suited cards that could make a straight, plus I was not all in, this was a bounty tourney, not even reasonable thinking but felt it would work out and if it didn't, oh well. Yesterday was def a weird night at the tables as in addition to being lucky on numerous hands throughout the tourney, I folded Ks-4s one hand and Ah-8h to a raise in another and would have flopped a flush both times. People talk about having one of those nights and I guess last night was mine.

Side note: my apologies to the organizers of the tourneys I missed last weekend, things came up and was not able to play in them, seems to be a recurring theme lately, I'm sorry I missed those tourneys and hope everyone had fun, going to be busy for probably til the end of the year with life so I hope to see everyone on the felt when I get a chance, if not, you can always pm me and I get to that on most weekdays just not as much on weekends

Congrats CJ. You got the right cards at the right time. I didn't. That's poker!!

TY Bob for the PTT. It is an amazing series of poker that brings out very tough competitors and certainly will sharpen up anybody's game. I look forward to season 3 when I intend to build a 500 point lead since 200+ is not enough to lock up POY honors.

Big Lui Oct 2, 2008 8:35 pm

Congrats cj, You played great and it paid off!

GG to all that played and thanks Bob for putting in the time and effort to host these tourneys, they are great tourneys and always have great players in them.

This is probably the best tournament summary that I have ever saw on this site ! Although I don't play many tournaments, I decided to play this one last night because of the number of players that sent me an invitation to join, and the quality of players who were registered. I am glad I did, and want to express my thanks to Bob for putting on such a fine tournament, and inviting me to play.

At one time in the early stages I was down to 700 chips, and then made a comeback to have over 40,000 in chips at the final table. This happened by making good calls with drawing hands that hit, and good bets with made hands. I caught a lot of my draws last night, and made my opponents pay the price for letting me catch them, and that is always fun !.

In the end cj and PearlJam both caught better hands than I did, when I had a good second best hand, so I doubled them both up, and ended in third. Winning tournaments is all about playing the players, and catching the cards when you need them, and that is what happened for me up until it got to 3 of us, then cj was the one who got the good cards.

Congratulations to cj and PearlJam for their good final table play, and I must say the heads up they played was a fun battle to watch !

.....play on ....Tc.....
