Recently, (within the past 2 days) I was asked a question by a person I have come to respect very much in our family of railbirds.
"are you the member of any clan." more or less correct wording! lol. I have been asked this question quite a few times over the past year (basically, since the clans first began!) by some of the greatest people on this site (in my personal estimation!). I felt it was time to explain (if I can, coherently! lol) so I amswered the persons question as honestly as I could and following is the reason/excuse I gave. It's a bit more complete and a fair bit more personal that I am wont to reveal about myself. But - - - it's family, right!

I think if I joined a clan it would open me up to vastly greater opportunities to be hurt because I would treat my friendships in the clan the same way - too close. I don't know how to handle friends. sad huh!

I WOULD NEVER TRY TO JUDGE WHY SOME PEOPLE DO THE THINGS THEY DO, OR BE THE PERSON THEY ARE. I CAN ONLY TELL YOU ABOUT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AS A CLAN MEMBER.
I AM A SHARK, FIRST AND FOREMOST, AND IMHO, IT'S THE BEST CLAN ON RAILBIRDS...BUT PUTTING THAT ASIDE FOR A MOMENT: IT'S MUCH MORE THAN THAT....ALL OF THE CLANS ARE ABOUT "HELPING" EACH OTHER.
I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU MUST HAVE GONE THROUGH TO MAKE YOU FEEL THAT WAY AND FOR THAT I AM SO VERY SORRY. I GUESS, I AM JUST TRYING TO TELL YOU: YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL, VERY REWARDING, AND THE VERY ESSENCE OF WHAT RAILBIRDS IS ABOUT.
EACH PERSON HAS TO BE WHAT THEY WANT TO BE. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO OR WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO BE. ROCK ON!!!!
I remember you from the tables F1ngers. You're such a sweet heart! As are the other Lady Monsters I know! I am afraid I would have to agree with you! lol
I'm only remembering you from some blogs and comments on blogs -RcB. but I totally agree with you, also, on your comments about the clans.. I am friends with several of the Sharks and they too are one of the many leading clans in my good thoughts about clans! and - d - d - d ---thank you for the nice comment!

I'm also a free spirit type of person so I understand that too ,
I'm not in a clan either , it's more of a time thing though , I'm a nightowl and most clan games and such are too early for me ,
I totally understand the concept of not feeling you can trust people , BUT one thing I have learned from personal experience is if you shut out all chance of being hurt you can also shut out the chance of finding good people in your life too ,that doesn't mean I let my guard down totally but I do try to put the walls down and let in some light now and then ,
anyway you don't have to join a clan at all if you aren't into it ,
most clan tournies are open to everyone who wants to come and play , I have friends in various clans and all are cool people ,
so just do whatever works for you and have fun ! , gl !
Well buddy, here is my quote for you. "Risk my cause failure. But success can not come with out it." I take friendship to way you do. I cherish them will all my heart. I have many friendships that are over 20 years old. I have been hurt by many friends, but we are stil friends. That's just a part of life. You have to take the good with the bad. Taking a chance with a clan is a good thing. Yeah, you might not get along with everyone in your clan. But the chance to make a life long friend is worth it. I have several friends from my clan that i chat with every night. I also have friends from other clans, that i chat with once or twice a week. Some every night. I also try and keep in touch with my clan as much as possible. So take a chance bro.
And thank you. I was thinking about what tosay. I have the same feeling about moving on in my life. Falling in love again,lol. I guess maybe i need to take that chance to again. Thank you for making me realize this.

How Kool is this! Bigword! you must be in a place very close to mine! I'm in the same quandry right now too - with finding a new love to close out my years with! No surprise, really! it's a pretty big world out there! as we all know! lol Don't get me wrong people I still try to maintain a positive attitude about things (vital for survival! lol) as a general rule and I will very likely join a clan. I sit and watch the clan members rail each other and smile with a kind of pride (weird, I know! LOL). Why? "Cause I'm a railbird! bottom line, and it's good for a railbird (or this one, anyway!) to see this kind of support and encouragement for a fellow railbird! Fun! fun, fun!
And anybody who says the PotKings ain't high on my list have no idea! lol cough, cough! lol (I stole that cough, cough - plagerism! I know-w-w-w! lol)

do what you feel is right for you. if anyone person wont be a friend because your not in a certain clan, then they were never your friend to begin with, nor deserve to be.
a big shout out to all who remained my friend after i married my cousin! your the best. ( i didnt marry my cousin! she wouldnt have nothing to do withe me)

Well Damn! damn, damn, damn! The two dearest friends I have ever made on Railbirds are reading my blogs -still! All you others don't know it but the gorgreous lovely ladies TeresaDL and KOOL02 are 2 of the greatest loves I have in railbirds( and life! lol). We met here at railbirds (like so many of us have) and my friendship and admiration and respect and love for these two wonderfully lovely ladies has grown enormously, they brighhtened my life just by being in my thoughts! ! Kinda kool I think! lol
