just stay away lol but honestly do not play the slots.......For the nicest poker room ive seen check out the Orleans its on tropicanna ave on the west side of 15. That place has like everything but just stay away from the slots.

i agree with tripps about the Orleans being worth a visit, but i actually recommend the slots, if you like to play them.

i always thought slots were boring and a rip off. actually, the latest couple of generations of slots are super fun. a lot of visits i make as much or more on slots than i do on poker. then again, i'm not that good at poker! ROFL

ok, here are some other tips.

if you dig soul food, head over to Kathy's Southern Cooking in Henderson. get the fried chicken. this tip alone is enough to ensure that no matter what happens at the table, you will never forget this trip. i'm not even a big fried chicken fan, but this sublime. the smothered pork chops kick ass too.

if you end up at the MGM, the poorboy sandwich at Emeril's Fish House is big enough for two and comes with Zapp's potato chips. good bargain lunch. just sit in the oyster bar... the main dining room rocks, too, but the sandwich is a bargain.

another couple of places i like to play poker: The Monte Carlo and The Mirage. Be sure to sign up for the players club when you play. They usually will comp you a meal just for asking after about three hours of play. They clock you, so make sure you are on the clock.

The comp at The Mirage is good for a $15 credit (if memory serves) and you can use it at several different restaurants, including the buffet (which is pretty damn good for a buffet, and usually costs more than $15...they wave the difference).

If you are on a low budget, or you get off on savoring the last bits of old time funky gaudy tobacco-drenched Vegas, head over to the El Cortez. They have a very low limit table.

Finally, if you'd like to see a free show and you like magic, you can get tickets to see what's billed as the World's Greatest Magic Show if you call the box office at 9 am when they open and ask to be on the free ticket guest list. The tickets aren't totally free, they charge a buck fifty service charge. But considering other shmoes wil be paying like $55 to see the show, it's practically free. For more details, check out the blog I wrote about it.

I saw the show in July, my brother saw it a month ago, as far as I know, the tickets are stil available. It's a very fun show.

oh, and one more final thing, if you are flying in, you will be wise to get a rental car. taxi rides add up fast. and if you take a taxi from the airport, make sure you tell the driver to please not take the tunnel. it's a well known detour that cabbies use to jack up the price of the fare.

if u have more questions, let me know. i've been visiting vegas several times a year for the last 10 years.

Have a great time---my favorite places to play are the VENETIAN AND THE ORLEANS.....both have some nice tourneys and lots of live action......

Don't beat the card flickers...
Don't get married there....
Don't do anything that promises free shows!!! You will spend a day being harassed into buying time share.
Don't play slots on the strip, visit downtown.
Don't try to catch a bus on the strip, take the rail if you can or walk.
Don't lose

Do just keep on walking when someone approches you with offers
Do site see
Do watch a show
Do find out what is going on at each hotel
Do tip the waitresses well so they bring you more free drinks often
Do eat buffets
Do wear good shoes
Do win

oh if you like seafood, try the seafood buffet at the Rio
