Considering the fact that MADD has been around since the 80s telling everyone about the consequences of drunk driving I think it absurd to think that anyone can be ignorant of the possibilities when one chooses to drive after imbibing. It is my sincerest hope that states will soon begin imposing laws that include penalties for this action that are equivalent to:

1) If you are caught behind the wheel of a vehicle while legally drunk you are weilding a deadly weapon in public with the intention of bodily harm.

2) If you cause an accident while under the influence then you are guilty of second degree attempted manslaughter. While the target of your crime was indiscriminate (you didn't particularly target anyone) you knew the chance of harming another was there and therefore took someone else's life into YOUR hands.

3) If the accident causes a fatality then the charge is bumped up from attempted to actual manslaughter....have a nice life.

To anyone who thinks this is harsh I watched two of my friends die after a drunk crossed a center line and rammed our vehicle. Not to mention I think the parents of Logan would agree in the utmost!
