There are many reasons that you should fill out your poker site names on your profile, one of the main ones is so that when you finish in the points of a Railbird Real Money Ranking or a Railbird Freeroll you get credit for those finishes. Which could infact entitle you to participate in one of the Monthly Freerolls the following month, if you had enough points.
Another main reason to have your screen names listed on your profile is so that if you choose to post a bounty it will help you to meet the minimum requirements, which is 5 Ranking Tournaments, in order to participate. Even if you KNOW that you've completed the minimum requirements if your screen name is not listed, or listed incorrectly, you will not receive your points or credit for those tournaments. Therefore, you will not be able to post a bounty according to the bounty rules until you do meet those requirements.
For more information about about posting bounties on Railbirds you can visit the bounty blog here:

or check out the FAQ Section.
*Remember if you don't wish to have your name visible to others you can have it hidden and still get credit, but you have to have it listed under the "Poker room nicknames" Section of your "My Page"

I think it should be a site requirement, that would be a big aid in locating those who are sharing passwords !
....Topcat....
If there was a way to do both for example, filling out your screen name is a requirement, but selecting a box to participate or not participate in the rankings would be a great solution. Where somehow clicking that box makes that screen name hidden to however the rankings are done. I don't know if that's even possible, but certainly something to check into I would think.
TY Astrogini and here here TC

Like TC, I believe it should be a site requirement with the option to hide them from public view if one chooses. It would cause a lot less drama though if they were required to make them public.
I am a member of a couple of other sites I don't visit often that does require site names prior to getting into their tournaments.
