Well you seem to have invested far more chips in 66 than I

would , especially on that flop ,and he got insanely lucky with

his T8 off suit , add him to your friends list lmao , gl

My question is: how in the world did you still think that 66 was the best hand after that flop?

Anyway, assuming that you made a good read and put your opponent on a draw on the flop, you only made a min. raise! You invited him to stay in there with you. At that point you needed to make a pot sized or larger raise. That should have been enough to get him off his back-door draw. Once he got his open-ended straight draw on the turn, he took you min. raise (flop) as a sign of weakness and he wasn't going anywhere.

You fell victim to greed. You thought that since you had the best, you'd keep him around to get a few more chips out of him. It backfired, as it often does. If you've only got 66 and the board looks like that and you've made the correct assessment that you've got the best hand, TAKE IT DOWN!

You opened a low pocket pair UTG with a substantial raise. You bet the flop when your pocket pair didn't hit a set. You called raises out of position with over cards to your pair on the board. It appears that you never thought about what your opponent had in his hand.

alright, well i didnt think he hit anything on the flop, so i shot out a bet and shot out a substantial raise on the turn and hit hit his out on the river. im just confused on why he was calling all the way to the river
topcat1954 Sep 24, 2008 7:36 pm

The first mistake was raising him pre flop, and it all went downhill from there ! A small pocket pair should be easy to get away from aftewr a flop like that, and what he actually had really isn't an issue, nor is how lucky he got. The real issue is how bad you misplayed YOUR hand !

....Tc....

He had an open-ended straight draw on the turn (9 or K to complete). Plus, as I mentioned earlier, I think he took your min. raise on the flop as a sign that you didn't have much either; and was willing to risk 1/10 of his stack to see what came up on the river.

He got lucky, but you should have taken his min. bet on the flop as a sign of weakness and done what you had to to take down the pot while you still had the best hand. In my opinion.
Zippus Sep 24, 2008 7:44 pm

lol, u gotta have a big hand playing against a guy name 72off

BlazinKush23 Sep 24, 2008 7:45 pm
yeah, well i thought my raise preflop was a sign that i had a strong starting hand, and then he called with 810 off suit. then i tried representing the A on the flop with a bet. then i tried to show strength with a raise after his bet on the turn. and for some reason he was callin all the way with his 108. i kno i didnt play it very well, but that is what was going through my head if thats any more help to you guys.
woffice Sep 24, 2008 7:50 pm
Yes, you made a substantial raise pre-flop. But you followed it up with almost nothing. At that point your opponent probably put you on a weak A, a draw, or a small pair (which you had). Even though your assessment of his hand was good, his was better. And you letting him stick around to see the turn was deadly.
nightmoves44 Sep 24, 2008 7:50 pm

As a rule with low PP,wait and see the flop if you can,and if you dont hit trips get out,but if you hit trips with a low PP,then is the time to push, but not too hard unless there is a strait or flush forming.

BlazinKush23 Sep 24, 2008 7:54 pm
alright thank you wolf and everyone. i just thought my raise on the turn would put up a flag for him that hes beat. but guess not, ill work on my game some more tonight
woffice Sep 24, 2008 8:05 pm
Another thing to note: You may not have noticed, but your 1200 raise on the turn wasn't even 1/2 the pot. So your opponent was certainly willing to stick around to see that last card. He got hope with the turn card and sometimes that's all it takes.

You were in the middle stages of the tourney. Following up a big pre-flop raise with a little one doesn't say much for the strength of your hand.
Quinn Sep 24, 2008 8:30 pm
I can understand the re-raise with only one person in, and you being in late position. Try to steal the pot without seeing a flop is a good way to win with small pp's. But....with a flop like that, rerasing less than 4 to 1 of the pot is not a good idea. If you were trying to buy the pot, you should have not given him great odds to call your re-raise. You were representing a monster hand with that reraise preflop, you either have the guts to raise bigger on the flop or fold when he bets. The only time I give good value is if for example I had AA there with that flop.

dido dido dido !!! lol

YOU TOTALLY OVERPLAYED YOUR SMALL POCKET PAIR.

AND I CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR OPPONENT ONLY CALLED YOUR RIVER BET WITH THE NUTS.

THEY PLAYED CRAZY AND STUPID.

TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO READ UP ON PLAYING SMALL POCKET PAIRS. WE ALL NEED TO PLUG LEAKS IN OUR GAME.
