So I have been swamped with work over the last month and rarely play more than an hour or two a week so I decided to start playing ring games. I usually avoid ring games since there can be big swings and because I am a solid tourney player and love the chance for a big payout. So with limited time its the best way to get a quick fix and be able to leave when I have to go. Well I have really started to find my game at the cash games.
My strategy is that I have been playing the $1/$2 blinds and will play only 2 tables at a time at a 6 person table. I find the 9 person tables too difficult to get into rhythm. POSITION is the key for me. I raise almost everytime Im the button when its been folded to me and continue firing at the pot even if i dont hit and get called. Also, there seems to be a lot of people that bluff at pots by overbetting after weak bets or after check calling. I try to isolate my play against just one opponent and try to outplay them after the flop. Well needless to say ive left ahead after every session ive played and increased my bankroll by $700 with less than 10 hours of play. So maybe if you are a tourney player and are in a slump, try the ring games.
