I dont like lowball much..bit too hard to figure what someone else has

A little tip I have, never play any hand aggressively without 2 low and worse than an 8 high. Other than that, play check and call. Yes, you will win a lot with 9 highs, but it is still borderline in triple draw in my opinion. Especially if you don't have good lows in your hand. If people around you insist on playing for more than two bets and you don't have 8 low or better, either proceed with caution and a good read, and barring both of those, fold.

Yes, I am a beginner in 2-7 trip draw, but I admit it.

You dumped the wrong card first, and then played it terrible with all your pot building raises. Deserve to lose.
Bloodsong Sep 19, 2008 11:05 am

OK, ummm, I may be off here, but, it really doesn't add anything to just come in and berate the play. At least give some insight. what was the "right card" to dump? I figured the same as she did, I am guessing, keep the lowest of the lows. Her highest card was a 6, she dumped it, 2-3-4-5 is the lowest your low side can get, how is that bad to keep?

Well definitely not a betting or raising hand but HU I would have called this hand.

Btw take no notice of mr negativity, I think he has a head injury or personality disorder of some kind.

wow TBadd...way to be an ass..

I'm new too...I think I made the same plays with the same hands...I hate getting that low hand dealt and having to pull one more low....maybe you just fold after you get dealt the K? I dunno...

StudioCat Sep 19, 2008 6:00 pm
Rarely play the game but from very little knowledge. would have stayed until your 4 paired. With so many others staying in and betting out.....you gotta assume someone already has the low.

Folding pre-flop....nope you had a good chance....unlike some other comment who shall remain nameless....I think you were correct in starting the hand.
RockchalkBaby Sep 19, 2008 6:10 pm

I hate lowball, but from what little I've played, I think you were ok to play this hand, but I'm not sure I would do all that raising. Then after the 4 paired, I would have probably dumped it. But what do I know?

Like razz...best to save the raises until you have your hand made. If you don't, all you're likely doing is building the pot for someone else. IMHO.

Great playing hand...

Being that close to bubble with good chips and a great hand is tough.

You knew you had to beat 9 or better as JKNew stood after 1st draw & was betting...

maybe cool calling till you had nuts...?

One other thing with this hand 6s4s5d3s2s. Since staights and flushes are bad in 2-7, it was good to keep the 5d to stop the possibility of a flush but I would have discarded the 4s3s to limit the chances of redrawing a straight.
AngryDragon Sep 20, 2008 2:53 pm
Ps - I'm pretty new to this game myself. Any more constructive comments from regular players?
