I know I haven't been around much lately, yet here I come to ask a favor.
For the majority of you, hurricanes are simply news. To many, they are as much a part of our lives as our children. Especially this time of year.
Hurricane Ike is approching the Texas coast and is expected to make landfall on late Friday night or early Sat morning. The projections have it hitting land as a strong Category 3-weak Category 4 storm. This is our 3rd evacuation of the year, with the first 2 being on the safe side. This time we are leaving because we have been advised by local authorities. This storm is still far away from us, and many things can change over the course of the next 2 days, but suffice it to say wherever this storm hits there will be great damage and alot of wind and water to deal with. It is of massive proportions and absolutely huge and is getting ready to reak more havoc.
The favor I ask is please say a prayer for the areas that have already been hit by this dangerous storm, the areas that have yet to be hit and for the people who are going on what we have begun to call a "hurricane vacation".
To anyone who is planning to evacuate, we pray that you have a safe trip and safe return to your homes.

You are in my prayers as well as all the others effected by Ike. I have family in NOLA area who had to evacuate for Gustav and who survived Katrina/Rita.
Have a safe trip and may this storm leave your home untouched.
I'll send you an angel to look over you
It may be an "hassle" to some to leave, but better safe than sorry. I'm sure it helps your family and friends know you're getting out of harms way, but
I have lots of family and friends along the Gulf Coast and it often drives me insane when they choose to "ride it out."
Stay safe, hope all turns out good..
Hope all that don't evacuate stay very safe also... this sounds like a bad Hurricane, and lets hope and pray its not as bad as they thought the last one would be either.
My prayers are with you all..
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
cybermom and ramer, we'll have to all try to get together sometime. I'm south of Houston on the water, and that's why we're leaving. A good thunderstorm and we can't move around for the water, so we're outta here. Ya'll be safe!
.........prayers heading your way
