Ok, so I'm bored, because there are hardly any campers here this weekend (14 total people) so I go to Poker Stars, and register for the tournament that I have been reading so much about here, the Summer Series thing. I cruise into the 250 that made the $5 with ease, and go down to around 125 left, where I doubled up when I flopped a straight with my 89 suited. I am patiently waiting for another good hand, or at least something playable in late position against a short stack, when BOOM ! They move me to another table !
Right about now I have around 35,000 in chips, and the tournament leader had 60,000, I check the stats and I am 28th of 86, so I am thinking that it is almost a lock on the top 50 right ? WRONG ! I look down after a few hands and find KK in the $1000 BB, not bad I think, and when the big stack at the table (48,000) raises it from 1000 to go, to 4,000, me and one other person call. I am delighted to see a King on the flop, and 66, this gives me a full boat, so I bet out 10,000, a modest bet, but something anyway. The guy with all the chips raises all in !
Now here I sit, with a monster hand, only 1 hand can beat me, and there is no way I can put this guy on 6,6 by him raising pre flop, so I figure he has to have 10's, or Jacks, possibly Queens, but I am leaning towards 10,10. The guy between us folds, and I figure, what the heck, win this hand, and there is no way I can miss making the top 50 and moving to the next tournament.
I call, and was surprised to see my opponent only had A6 of hearts, so he had trip 6's, and only 1 out to win with ! Naturally I am feeling pretty good about this, and reach for my glass when the turn shows an A of clubs, and nearly spit my drink on the screen when the Ace of spades shows up on the river ! He makes Aces full of 6's with runner, runner Aces, to knock me out of the tournament ! I just could not believe it, and am still having problems with it, just thinking about it !
I don't feel playing the hand was a mistake, and I don't think I played it badly at all, I just can't for the life of me figure out just how some people get so damn lucky, when they are the underdog ! I sometimes find myself in that position, and very seldom draw out, guess I am just not that lucky ! Oh well, at least they gave me 5 bucks !

i played one of those the players are tuff, i prefer FT noting tools than PS . i only itm twice on PS. your hand was good the guy just got lucky, he obviously couldn't put you on PK's and was playing his trips. sometimes i almost hate good hands since they're so often overplayed by me. the bad beats happen. and we have to move on. good luck on the next one.
