Holding K3 in button

Sep 5, 2008 7:33 pm Report Abuse

Game is $0.01-0.02 No-limit hold'em. I'm sitting in button holding Railbirds card: KsRailbirds card: 3c. Cutoff limps and i limp as well. SB limps, BB checks. Flop comes Railbirds card: KcRailbirds card: JhRailbirds card: 6d and there are 4 players in the pot. Pot size is $ 0.08. SB checks BB bets 0.04 and cutoff folds and i re-raise 0.08, SB fold and BB re re-raises 0.22 and i folded. In the hand i think i should re-raise to test his hands strenght. I folded cause i had no kicker. Did i play this hand wrong and did i made bad decisions?

You could of been up against a number of hands, K6, 66, J6. I wouldn't of called.

too much thought there remember online is rigged for weaker hands too win usualy top pair is good.

I wouldn't have wasted even two cents on K3o, even on the button, unless I were really desperate to play a hand. In that case, the only way I raise with it post-flop is if I hit two pair.

i think locochaser is right here. With the cutoff limping in, I would of went ahead and mucked K3 off. Had cutoff not came into that pot I would of went ahead and raised, either taking down the blinds or getting it down to heads-up with a king in my hand. If you really wanted to play that K3, say for the purpose off showing strength even with the cutoff in the pot, I would of went ahead and raised and isolated them in the cutoff.

In other words, just limping here from the button is a bad idea because you have position.

yeah, I have to say that the odds on hitting a solid hand, even last to act, are prety slim. If you wanted to play, raising was probably the right idea. Post-flop, I don't mind a reraise with top pair, because he may be feeling it out with middle or even bottom pair, and it's decent info to get. When he pushes back, you have to figure you're beat, so good fold. I think the only problem was limping in the first place.
