Just a thought.....and don't get mad......I employ a method I like to call "Rope a Dope" after Ali.I like to let everyone else beat themselves up till AFTER I reach the money.I know it's hard to fold Aces but........Cashing is everything. If ya don't cash....ya don't put any money in your bank.
strengthandhonor Sep 5, 2008 9:49 am
ok but seriously
fold AA 8 away form the money with 13k chips?

btw sorry to hear about your uncle AP
bj2207 Sep 5, 2008 9:55 am
I know it's been said a million time, but.......AA is big, but it's still only a pair and some donk playing 63o can still beat you if you go all in pre-flop; with them. I know it's harsh, but that close to the money it was probably not the best play to make when you still had a farily big stack in front of you. It's hard to do, and I likely would have done the same thing as you did, but that close to the money, you should have thought about folding and living to fight another day.
buick60 Sep 5, 2008 9:56 am
Well just think about it.I'm not sure if I've folded Aces yet but I've folded almost every other starting hand,to make sure I cashed.
dragonlake Sep 5, 2008 9:57 am
I was in it too man and lost with AA TOO!!!!!!! I let a guy river a straight trying to trap him lol ! Bubbled freeroll right behind that too lol!!I I won the RB FR this afternoon though so I'm getting better at the MTT thing!! And so are YOU!! Think about it !!!!!! How many times have you donked out of the Fergy and other tournys FAR sooner than tonight?????? The wins are coming man and soon as you get over your girl problems your poker game will improve too!! Mine's two months gone now and I'm already much better!! Tilt in life is just as destructive and costs just the same as it does in poker!! Grunt a little shrug your shoulders and move on.................DL

I lost 4 outa 5 all-in Rockets in real money games.....twice to ACE-KING callers.......LOL

Stats only work over the long hall.....Aces at 75% only work when they're against you.....lol.

I play alot less real money after that brutal lesson

BigJoeJones Sep 5, 2008 4:36 pm
There is no lesson to be learned here. You get your money in with aces, especially head up. At any stage of the tourney. I'm sick of hearing people say you could fold there. You can't fold there and if you do then poker isn't your game. 20 percent of the time you will be upset because you lost with the best hand. Sometimes you will be on the bubble and lose and be even more upset. Other times though, that will be a key hand that sent you to the final table and tripled your winnings. You played it right and the idiot that called after an all-in shove by a TAG player got his money in horribly bad and is horribly bad. That is all you can do. The cards that fall decide the rest. The donkey bray in triumph when they get their money in bad and win anyways and keep the stupid grin on their faces when they get caught and lose. Shake it off bro, you da man!
StudioCat Sep 5, 2008 5:17 pm
Sorry hun but don't go to mcdonald's. I am almost to the point of never calling an allin. Wait, that would be me bluffing,

Don't even have enough fingers and toes to count how many times my pkt. A have been cracked.
mystic_bob Sep 5, 2008 5:24 pm
bigjoejones is right.
i agree 100% with him.

it is irrelevant what stage of the tourney you are at... you ALWAYS need to accumulate more chips and you CAN NEVER FOLD AA preflop, especially all in preflop.

please don't listen to the naysayers "ooh fold AA right here"

thats got to be the most outrageous thing ive ever heard.
wombli777 Sep 5, 2008 5:38 pm
That hand played itself nothing you could do.... sorry about the cards... You played great to get that far!! Better luck next time!

There is no right or wrong here folks. It all depends on what your goal is. If you need to reach the money you don't gamble by going all in preflop regardless of your cards. If you're trying to win it all and can afford the loss you go for it and hope for the best.

If your just upset and venting, which we all do Strength, take a little break, a few deep breaths and get back to it when you're feeling better. Hoping things turn around for...GL and TC

All I'm saying guys is that when the aces are dealt in your pocket, visions of sugarplums dance in your heads. If it's near the bubble you could end up with a lump of coal in your stocking.I'd rather get a present, even if it's not the big shiny one in the store window.
StudioCat Sep 5, 2008 6:34 pm
After a moment of getting my heart started so brain was working, here's my thoughts. If you aren't willing to call an allin with AA, you should probably not be at the tables. Sooo, good call sorry it didn't work this time.
