Late Registration

Aug 30, 2008 10:14 am Report Abuse

I am not the whiner type, usually if I get hit with a better hand I shrug it off say NH in chat and go along my merry way.

Now it's a whole different blog when I come up against people that play crap hands and catch just to play them. And I will get to writing that blog eventually.

I am gonna whine now though about late registration on Full Tilt. So last night I was so proud of myself, I had won a Chris F. tourney and promptly entered into the next round of it for tonight. I picked tonights game because it had the little smiley face which meant HEY I can get FTP's (I only have 9.40 right now). As the game grew closer my anticipation level rose until I was literally squirming around in my chair waiting for it to start. 810 players, okay more then the one last night but hey, last nights didn't have a happy hour symbol and besides I made it through the 2600 people on the original right!

So the game is starting and I love having the lobby open to just watch people fall off of the counter. And to my dismay I see the number going from 810 to 900 to 1125 so instead of watching people falling off I am watching my competition grow! How dismaying!

Well I end up getting tossed out on my rear after I have A, 10 spades suited and the flop comes BAM A, 9, 3 rainbow. Guy that had just bragged about donkeying his way through tonights tourney to win his dollar entry goes all in and I felt I had to follow. I have the high card! Him and I heads up he has 3, 8, unsuited GEEZE what the heck kinda hand is that to go all in with! He catches on the turn another 3. I am out and not only out but out 1008 on a game that had started at 810.

So I got knocked out by someone that shouldn't have been playing in the first place. I don't agree with Full Tilt's late registration, I think if like any pro game you are supposed to play you need to be there on time and ready to play. I realize it is supposed to be a convenience and a nicety for customers that play. What about the customers that show up on time for their game, they register during registration time and they are sitting ready to play at the designated start time? Don't we matter? I know, Full Tilt, you are trying to make your games bigger and your prizes bigger......but some of the games that you have late registration on have their prizes set in stone and honestly some of us would prefer smaller tournaments in fact we hunt for them. Anyway, that is my rant about late registration.

Thanks for reading! Play to win!

You do know that the WSOP allows late entry up to 2 levels into all tourneys right???

Sorry should have put most and not insinuated that all pro games are like that. I apoligize for my error in that respect.

i like the late reg, personally, it makes the prizepool grow more!!! who wouldn't love that?

I think it's pointless. Alot of people wait to the last minute to enter as is, now they have a little bit longer to wait and can get in after others get out.

More bs from tilt, like their so called non turbo and turbo SNG's. Since when is 6minute blinds not a turbo,LOL. Sorry that another blog.

Late entry don't like it, I'm with you.

cheers Jonty

First of all, MOST live tournaments allow late registration, at least in AC. I'm not sure what pro tournaments are. Second it is a wonderful feature on Tilt because sometimes you are playing a cash game and forget to register or the like and it used to be you missed your opportunity. These players are at a disadvantage than those who preregistered because they won't have as many hands at the low blinds as you.
