That is how i played this hand, not interested in what you think of my preflop play i would of played that like that anyway regardless of what happened before me.

Post flop: was the call correct?

Post turn: same again call correct?

generally calling is not the correct play in a given situation. raise preflop to eliminate some limpers, then bet the flop like you hit it. fold to raise. If you get called on the flop get away from the hand. It is the first hand, nothing wrong with just pitching it. that's just my opinion

I would've played the same way as you did. A lot of people like to raise with 88, but you're in bad position with a lot of preflop limpers. If the 8 comes on the flop, you're golden. However, since they didn't bet you out, I agree with those calls. An 8 on the turn or river and you stand to make a good amount of money

Well this is pretty easy with just straight pot odds, you have two outs, so 4% an 8 will hit on the turn, and 4% on the river, that's 24 to 1 odds. The pot is 180 on the flop so that's 9 to 1 odds, which is less than 24 to 1, so you dont have odds. On the turn the pot is 280, so that's 14 to 1 odds, so no you don't have odds, but implied odds complicates things, so its really just up to you, that's a really borderline decision, calling or folding, it doesn't really matter, i would probly play as you did because of the implied odds and of course you are last to act.

Nvm, you are first to act, but its just a min raise, so its not that bad to call.

Did you have the odds?....No

But using "schooling" to your benefit doesn't require pot odds.

"schooling" is all about implied odds.

It is a strategy for loose games - calling to get the best hand eventually

basically it comes down to letting people hang themselves by letting you call with a good drawing hand.

a pair typically is not a good drawing hand, but in this case with no big bets it can easily be worth it since all the other chasers (which is what you want to see when you use schooling) could not have made hands. Any big pairs would have bet. and your 8s were middle pair. the river card was a cooler for you and there you made the right play by folding.
