Satellites good?

Aug 22, 2008 8:35 pm Report Abuse

i have had the urge to play in some bigger buy in tourneys lately. My bankroll management rules will not allow me too so are satellites a good option or just a waste of money?

Thoughts?

They are a option but, I would suggest playing lower levels. For example play a 2.20 MTT on PS to the Sunday 200,000. Unregister and play two $5.50 buy ins. Just a thought, of course it depends on what buy in you are looking to play at. Just a side note I have not had much success playing above my role, and it is tough to take when you lose what you worked so hard to gain. In my humble opinion. GL

You still shouldn't play in the bigger tourneys until your bankroll management permits you too even if you satallite in. I won a seat to the 750k on full tilt before they allowed unregistration and had tournament dollars. I had around $300 in my account at the time and I was playing in a $216 tournament. Does that make any sense if you can unregister? NO. lol

On a side note I believe if you start from nothing (or like $100) you need to start at the bottom in buy-ins and your bankroll tells you if you have enough experience from grinding your bankroll up to play in the bigger games. I won a satallite to a $100 heads up tourney in the middle of summer but I still don't have enough to warrant me playing in it (I would need $10,000).

While I felt there would be many fish in this tournament getting past the people that made it to the end would be enough because I'm not experience enough. I'm usually a very confident player but I'm aware that I'm not the best. Even if I have seen all the moves the high level heads up players make... I myself havn't actually done them a lot of times.

Yeah, sometimes they are easy to get into via a satelite but bigger tourneys require more skill and experience. The problem is that you will care too much about the money as unregistering might count for half of your bankroll so you wont bring your A-Game.
