Hi Raillers,
It was my understanding that Contests where open to ALL members, is it a fact or are the rules and regulations wrong? Because from what i read in a blog, i could be banned for entering one.
I also beleive that if you choose to accept the job of prorail, past issues with a member should be put aside and a no communication clause that was put in effect in the past should be void for the simple fact that if someone needs help at a certain time and the only help available has a no communication clause, what is that Railbird to do?
Here is a copy of the Rules and Regulations concerning contests:
1. When posting a contest blog, please set the deadline for one week from the date the blog was posted. That should give sufficient time to get entries in.
2. When posting a contest blog, once the contest has ended, please either delete the blog or contact a prorail to have the blog locked. This way there is no confusion to members that the contest has ended.
3. All Monetary value contests are to be paid as soon as the contest ends.
4. Should a person fail to keep up his or her end of a monetary value contest, the member will not be allowed to post a contest again.
5. You run and enter contests at your own risk. Railbirds is not responsible for any non compliance of the contests or actions of those involved. Railbirds doesn't help with scammers in any way, so please govern yourself accordingly.
6. When posting contest blogs, members must not be required to post comments in the comment section of the blog.
7. Contests must be open to ALL railbirds
This is also the definition of a ProRail by Railbirds.com:
What is a Prorail?
A Prorail is a member that has been designated the task of helping other members and make sure that our rules are enforced. The Prorails basically have six tasks: - To help members in need. - To moderate blogs, chat and forums, as well as remove offensive videos and images. - To answer questions. - To administrate the site and make sure it's running properly. - To solve disputes between members and mediate. - To warn and ban members, in the rare cases where this is needed.
So yes, you might of guessed it, me and a certain Prorail really dont get along, but im open to a supervised discussions with him in the hopes of making peace.

Manny

Manny, your suggestion of a 'supervised' discussion is an excellent idea. There is not enough time in this world for lingering disputes.
If I can help you two in any way to make peace, just let me know.
That's it Kim, stop it right now! We already know how great you are!

So what now? Shouldn't that other blog be "edited, revised, locked, deleted" since it contained "incorrect info" And IMO "unnecessary DRAMA"
Hmmmmmmmmm
AhhShh aka Icallu
Manny,
I'm glad you posted this. Due to a situation with some people here on RB, I have been excluded from certain contests as well because of a no contact order. Contests SHOULD be open to all RB's....not just a chosen few.
As for what you said about the prorail thing....
If someone has a no contact order with a person and that person becomes a prorail, I think it should automatically make the no contact order null and void. As you pointed out, what if that prorail was the only one available to help?
hey manny, I agree with Papa here, you two should work it out and the prorails should help, if you need anything, I'd be willing to help if I can.
You bring up an interesting issue that should be addressed, that is prorails should not really have no contact order in effect as if that person has a problem in using the site when that prorail is only person available to help, the prorail should help them and do what they can to remedy the issue.
Hope things work out for the best
I couldn't agree more with papapower on this statement. Too bad other people don't feel the same.

This blog isn't to put down prorails etc.
Manny simply asked a question about contests, and I answered it.
