Evidently my contest rules for reciving prizes wasn't spelled out good enough last night . This morning I awoke to find that some people had evidently expected me to pay for EVERY Green Bird submitted that was older than the one I was looking for, and got upset when I posted the fact that I was only going to pay A55A55IN for his 1st entry, and had the potential only for more payouts, IF my bird was found.
I received several PM's overnight stating that some people thought I owed them prize money, and some thought that every green bird they found was worth money. I also see that several people were low on bankroll, and therefore had gotten their hopes up that they were going to win, and thus have something to work off of. It was also noted that the selection process for the next 5 people was in fact very flawed, and actually, I see their point.
I started this contest thinking that it would be a good thing for the community, and because I didn't spell out the rules very well, it has left a sour taste in some peoples mouths. This was not my intention at all, and I APOLOGIZE to anyone who got their hopes up, and only to get them dashed !
I have decided to suspend the contest, because of this, and for another reason also. Someone who has a no contact order with me, might have sent in an entry, if it really is that person, and admin see it, then they are bound by site rules to perm ban this member, because said member (it might have been them) has already had a temp ban for responding to my blogs. Without any evidence, then they won't have to do the ban. I don't want my silly contest, or anything I do to be the reason anyone is forced out of the community ! Even someone who I can't seem to get along with !
I have already sent A55A55IN the $25 he earned for getting in under the 24 hour deadline first, and have transfered $25 to minneslim, who found my guy MORTAL, Congratulations to both of you !
There is still $100 that I had set aside to be given away if someone figured out my guy, which did happen, so I have decided that I am going to give it to everyone who responded to the blog. I will be deleting that blog as soon as I post this, but I have copied and pasted all responses into a folder, and after I get back from holiday on Sept 2nd, I will arrange a $100 freeroll tournament for all who have posted comments on the origional contest blog. You will each be notified by PM, of the date, time, and password, as soon as it is set up.
Again I APOLOGIZE for not stating the rules clearly, thus giving some Railbirds false hope of instant bankrolls, and have learned a valuable lesson in so doing ! I hope that my mistake is learned from by all who decide to post a contest blog, and it is not repeated in the future ! Nobody wants to give false hope to their fellow Railbirds, and clearly stated rules in the future will ensure that !
I hope that admin has mercy on me, and allows me to continue to post contests in the future, but will understand if they decide different, after me discontinuing this contest before the ending date !

tsk tsk tsk...Topcat, you're a prorail, you should know better than to be vague! Kidding...it was a very original contest, and it gave me something to do between hands on the hubble freeroll last night! Regardless of snafus, you're a good egg and we all know that!

congrats to minneslim and A55a55in on winning, thank you TC for hosting the contest, your heart was in the right place and that is the most important thing, at least this can be a lesson that I learned early in law school and that is before you do anything, you must think of as many situations that can come up and set up precautions, rules, or procedures for that situation
I for one, forgive ya as it was an honest mistake and you tried to do something nice with unexpected consequences

I missed it I guess.....no surprise. Hah! just goes to show - even the prorails can make mistakes. The 'class' part is in admitting it and putting yourself to the same judgement as every other regular member. In regards to punishments and and it's consequences.... Me, I hope they (the other prorails and Joe) don't ban you from posting other contest blogs in the future. I have often written something that was misunderstood and mis-interpreted by others and I wasn't banned! The blog was deleted but because a few misunderstood (or choose to misunderstand)my blog I was in the "wrong park at the wrong time" so-to-speak! lol
You're okay TC (for a young fella!) see ya round..(after vacation).
Now that I think about it, I think as punishment you shouldn't celebrate a holiday (in repentance, as it were! lol) but instead, just send me the money you would have spent and I'll do the holiday for you, that way you won't feel guilty all during your holiday! lol
