Scotty is a huge scumbag. I think it's an accurate measure of a man when he gets drunk and is under pressure. The only thing he's a prince of is being a POS. Yeah he said he's sorry. Just like the drunk who beats his wife says sorry the next day. So in summary: Scotty=Scum of the Earth.

exactly...
scotty became all the sudden one of the guys hanging out doped up and waiting for someone to beat up just for fun,
i found it very irritating to watch, also cause it underlined that contrast to chips memorial...

Winning the 2008 WSOP H.O.R.S.E event was one of the proudest achievements of my life. After watching it on ESPN, I know my actions at the table were wrong. For that, I would like to apologize to everyone, especially the fans. I make a big mistake, one I am very very sorry for, and one I NEVER repeat and never forget. I am sorry to all. Scotty Nguyen.....Here the link lol

I read all the comments about Scotty posted by cardplayer.coms readers. This is what I think you have been done or even still should be done:

All these comments about not drinking at final tables is ridiculous. You might as well say don't drink for the whole tournament. Maybe we could just stop selling alcohol and go back to prohibition times. That's of course outrageous. On the other hand if a player can't handle his alcohol and gets abusive then he needs to be penalized. The floor manager can't be a woose and let it slide. Crap on this should slide downhill from Scotty right to Herrah's and their ability to keep control over the tournament and ensure the best possible conditions for guests in their hotel. They also had the responsibility to their staff to not take abuse. Yelling where's my F'''n drink to the servers should cause an immediate reaction from management. As an ex restraurant manager anyone behaving in this manner with my employees would have been asked to leave immediately. As for the trophy honoring Chip, it should be immediately be stripped from Scotty. The way he behaved was completly against the spirit of why it was created. Obviosly he won the money with no one penalizing him when it should have been done.. He should keep it now. But I see no rules in the WSOP That say he can't now be stripped of the trophy.

I am amused at the jjudgmental attitude of so many birds... for cruds sake.. the man is a HUMAN BEING.. subject to makin ALL the same mistakes we all are.. he got drunk.. acted like a ass.. with some provocation I must say and then APOLOGISED profusely... he is and has always been bold and cocky at the table.. making him a fan favorite and off the table the man has accomplised more than most of us will ever dream of.. and then we have people like..

Big Joe Jones.... ho sees this video.. and decides to pass the judgement that Scotty is now .." scum of the earth"??? and compares him to a man who beats his wife?

Are you truly THAT harsh and judgemental? Have YOU never been drunk and made a ass out of your self? or know someone who did? are they/ you also scum of the earth? get a grip boyo..

Scotty made a ass out of himself.. was and is emabarassed and apologised... he OWES us NOTHING more...

ButtonDog Aug 22, 2008 5:02 pm
The apology was, from what I read and I read the whole thing, more of an excuse than an apology.

I got to shake hands with Scotty a couple of years ago at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK. He was attending a Kick Boxing event held there. He was very gracious and polite to all of his fans. I am a big fan of his.

He, however does have a drinking problem that he needs to straighten out. Going soft on him for his actions won't help him. There was no excuse for what he did. Do those that think Scotty did nothing wrong really believe that the attempted collusion that Scotty even admitted to at the table was ok? Scotty should have been booted from the tournament right then and there for trying to dump chips to Lindgren.

However those drunk pro's on the side line that was cheering Scotty on and encouraging his behavior are as guilty as Scotty and gave poker a black eye as well.

The WSOP officials that threw the rule book out the window because this made for good television gave poker an even blacker eye.

Scotty, the pro's on the rail, and the WSOP officials all owe the poker world an apology without the excuses trying to justify what they did.

I watched it when it aired.I don't think he was drunk. He may have had a little buzz.I think he just let his emotions get the best of him and he couldn't stand the fact that a young poker player was doing so well.Look what he did last year.It was a disgrace to the Chip Reese tournament in my opinion and evrybody has one.
footballcj Aug 22, 2008 5:22 pm
Scotty mada a mistake, but it was the WSOP officials that made the bigger mistake. They have rules and procedures that would have defused the situation, but they decided to sit on their hands.
BigJoeJones Aug 22, 2008 6:41 pm
I call them how I see them Paganmama. A persons true character is usually revealed when they are drinking. People who mess up take accountability, Scotty really hasn't. He took a piss on the legacy of a true ambassador of the sport. Too many people will say, "AWE THAT'S OKAY SCOTTY. You are still our favorite". Or they will say, "Haven't you ever been drunk and done something dumb before?. Look at professional sports athletes and the price they pay for drunken behavior, especially in the NFL. There are consequences for their actions. They are forced to take accountability. Is it too much to expect professional poker players to do the same? I can only reflect on what I would do if I had messed up in such a colossal manner. 'I'm sorry baby isn't enough in my book. Take accountability, make it right, change your ways and then I'll be the first person to jump on the bandwagon to offer support and forgiveness.
