pokeherjunkie Aug 22, 2008 3:17 am
its part of poker, he could of got disconnected, i was in iraq and had a horrible connection so dont judge him unless u know for sure. if he was intentionally slow rolling to be a jerk then that is wrong, but be careful u never know.
BAT357 Aug 22, 2008 3:38 am
multi tabling causes this too...hope it is not intentional! don't let it bother you, even if it is....that's what they want!
ozboyy Aug 22, 2008 3:45 am
Yes slow rolling bad! Hey wait I'm sure you have trapped someone in a game by slow rolling or haven't you been able trap anybody? It is part of the game and if you don't like it don't play it!!
4negreanu Aug 22, 2008 3:49 am
i now agree with pokerherjunkie...but ozboyy ..im not talking about trapping..im talking about on the turn when u have close to the nuts..and your oppoenenet isall in...u wait..and wait..and wait..and then u call all in...

I hate slow rollers, they should be shot.

Online its hard to tell though, because there can be many factors-some1 at the door, dogs barking or other things

I understand the point made, but surely any tactic is valid online, we have so few ways to throw an opponent off. And is often said, the good players will win more often than the bad players, so slow rolling happens, adapt move on.

Well, you said you were all-in and then he slow rolled his call. Obviously he wasn't using it as a tactic to make you think he didn't have a hand, since you were all-in regardless. Like others said, could've been pizza at the door, phone call, kid spilled soda all over the couch, etc. Just brush it off the best you can and nail 'em next time! Power to the Poker Wizards!

90% of "slowrolls" online aren't really slowrolls imo. most people are browsing the internet/playing multiple tables/don't really know any better. Sidenote-In my homegame, slowrolling has become semi-mandatory.
KevGuy Aug 22, 2008 7:30 am
he could have easily been preoccupied. But some people are total azzes. You never know.
ButtonDog Aug 22, 2008 7:45 am
The way you describe it he may have been trying to calculate if there was a hand that could be out that had him beaten. Not all people can look at a board and instantly see what the possibilities are. I am totally in awe of those that can. I don't know how many times I have seen the computer rack in the cards before I can figure out what hand won.

Did you go all in pre flop with JJ. It is possible that AA might consider folding - particularly if its very early, its a freeroll, and there is a chance 4 nutbags are going to call after you.

Also the queen high flush is obviously very strong, but perhaps he thought theres no way you nwould go all in with the flush on board without a flush himself that is possibly higher than mine because the only person who would call would have you beat. That was an awful bet in my humbe opinion

lots of newbies mistake 'slowrolling' for slowplaying... far different.

Slowrolling is one of the poorest things that one can do as far as poker etiquette goes. I've had it happen a bunch of times,.. you're on shortstack and you're shoving allin preflop,.. bigstack on big blind pauses, then hits timer (someone trying to tell me that they hit their timer cuz they're multi-tabling??.. pleazzz....), lets it run all the way down then clicks call and shows AA,... it's pretty sick for sure.

I wrote one time about getting slowrolled and got a bunch of responses saying that the guy hadn't done it intentionally???.... how would they know... were they at my table?? Obviously not but can understand how they'd want to give them the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately there are a TON of immature idiots online and slowrolling seems to give them some kind of perverse pleasure. I must admit, I do often add them to my 'friends list', looking them up to get the oppurtunity to stack them off and KO them from another game, heee heee. I just can't seem to help myself.

How about after they slowroll ya and then start beaking off at ya,.. calling you a donk, etc. It's pathetic. Solution... one I've been trying to work on for awhile now (all the time I suppose), I try to exect anything on the table, and try to not get emotionally involved. I'd still say it is the biggest leak in my game but am aware of it and am working on it. Nothing you can do about 'them',... only what you can do to work on yourself. Would be kinda nice to be on a live table with them though huh?... pretty sure they'd be behaving a little differently... no doubt!

see ya,... hope it doesn't happen to you too often,... but remember,.. it will.

so many people responding to blogs on here try to find fault with the member who wrote it,... when they really don't have a clue. My slowrolled experiences were almost always deep in a tourney (or bubble of sng) when the move is to shove or fold (stack in Red Zone of less than 5M in mtt, etc.,.. don't need to explain the details to someone who knows how to play,.. you know what I mean). And then the bigstack on one of the blinds,... pulls the slowroll with AA. It's frigg'n bulllshit.

bobcards Aug 26, 2008 6:21 am

guy one could have been taking a leak.

guy 2 shouldn't be snapping q5 hearts (maybe u have AorK high flush)

slowrolling is never funny though unless someone is terrible

bobcards Aug 26, 2008 6:23 am

lol at bigEZs "mandatory slow rolls"

sounds fun.
