My thoughts on Scotty Nguyen

Aug 21, 2008 4:43 am Report Abuse

Ok well im not one too say I know everything but I do know playing poker like that got too be tough. I mean its a huge field not sure the entrants on that one but im sure it was big. It probably took 2 too 3 days too get too the final table and we dont know what happened on the way too what we saw too on tv. But being that ive been in that poker arena i didnt play but i did get a chance too rail a bit it looks pretty uncomfortable in there. I bet it started out friendly but people got annoyed and scotty relized this early and used it towards his advantage.

I relize there's so calles rules of conduct but apparently the officials didnt think Scotty was doing anything too wrong or they let it go for TV ratings well it worked U all watch and were intrigued. All I have too say is this what happens when alcohol gets involved. And remember its still considered gambling. And looks like too me Scotty was having fun he still took down a presitiguse BRACELET and has won many others. Im sure Scotty will learn from this mistake and be smarter the next time he is in the spot light.

Remember dont knock it till uve been there Im sure Scotty was also under alot of PRESSURE and was just blowing steam ok well till next time good luck Scotty.....

i agree we only see the "FIREWORKS" or what the networks want to show to get good ratings, but from what i say scotty was a little drunk, i believe Eric Lingrend said "You cant beat a drunk" i dont no many drunks that have good manners till next time good luck everyone ;/

If you ever played live poker. Having a drunk and rude dude is just part of poker . Sometimes the guy is soo lucky being drunk. Scotty is known for getting his buzz on during tournaments. It is also can be a way to intimadate and tilt other players. I know its uncomfortable playing when you have a guy getting loud and obnoxiuos at the table. But that is poker

He is SCOTTY, he can do whatever he wants, and he just proved it !

I think next time I play a railbird tourney Im just going to cuss at everyone at the table. So many of you think its ok. That if you get someone off their game, then your a great poker player. I just hope the slurs are directed at the people who thinks its ok.

Sad that people condome that behavior.

I hope he had a heck of a hangover.......and I bet he did...........

Scotty "Win" is one of my favorite players, and one of the personalities they have chosen to market because of his very loose and free wheeling attitude and lifestyle. He always puts on some kind of a show. But that's why he is front of the camera so much. You either like Scotty or you hate him.

You judge people by thier actions. I dont care what happened off camera, and I dont care if he was drunk. He acted exactly the same way last year before he got knocked out before the final table. You can call it a strategy to put people off their own game if you want, but I doubt it would work at the level they play. My opinion is that he was completely out of line and I lost all respect for the man. People may say "well thats poker". Behaving like that shows a complete lack of respect for everyone watching and more for himself. I respect his achievements and his skill, but as a person, he is definitely lacking class and I believe probably lost respect of alot of his peers and fans.

I hope he did learn and seeks help with his apparent drinking problem.

However there were several respected pros on the rail that appeared to be just as drunk as he was egging him on and encouraging his actions. I hope that the WSOP officials have the courage for the image of poker and take appropriate action. None of those drunk pro's represented the game in a good way by their actions.

Keep an eye on ESPN. They usually do reruns during the year. The youtube videos aren't as bad as the tv.

The worst part was when he folded pocket aces to give Lindgren a chance to win the hand and jumped onto Lindgren for not taking advantage of the situation. Lindgren responded that he is not a part of team Scotty. That was attempted collusion on Scotty's part.
Bob_Saget_is_God Aug 21, 2008 6:00 am
I don't think it was attempted collusion i'd say chimp dumping, after watching the monatge on youtube, it changed how I saw his performance. I think he was out of line.

I JUST now finished watching the taped show and I have to say......

I'm VERY glad that I didn't read a SINGLE blog or blurb about this tourney before I watched the show.

From what I saw, yes, although Scotty had a buzz goin, it really wasn't THAT bad and from my view, I think Scotty was trying to make an example of that duder that was all hi and mighty from the get go.

Scotty was sayin' "HEY MAN, THIS is how it feels to be slapped in the face w/ a loss".

I personally don't think that Scotty did ANYTHING differently or wrong than any of the other tables that I've seen him play.

He's who he is and I was not in the least bit offended by his actions. I truly believe he was trying to make a point in his drunken way! He can't help what the railer's were doin'/sayin'. I didn't see him acting any differently than he ever has... He was being strong and yea, pissy w/ duder for "hi fivin'" all his bud's with every winning hand and all, but Scotty, he was!!!!!

ROCK ON SCOTTY!!!!!

EXZCTLY WHAT TC SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DesireToFire Aug 21, 2008 6:42 am
I watched it last night and couldn't stand how he was acting. I like what the kid said " Scotty you're supposed to be an ambassador for the game, I'm disappointed in you"

WHERE MY COCKTAIL BABY

bigpoppaboats Aug 21, 2008 7:07 am

I was more offended by the fact that the tourney powers that be let it slide when last I knew you got a 10 minute rail penalty for cursing. If Scotty got that he woulda been blinded out before he got back to the table. I haven't heard that many bleeps since the last episode of Road Runner I watched.

There had to have been a rule change or they could be setting themselves up for a lawsuit. If i had played and got a penalty for cussing and then watched scotty get away with that I would be getting in touch with an attorney.

I would like to say if it were me playing him, I woulda pushed them drunk buttons like it aint no thing LOL. Put him on tilt and keep him there.

Peace, J
