What do you take from...

Over the course of my time as a Railbird I have often wondered what other's take away from the Daily Quizzes.

Poker is an ongoing learning experience and while there's times when we may all agree that a specific hand should be played one way or another. I know there's often times when we don't agree with the Quizmaster, but to me there is no "wrong answer" there's often a better choice, but I wouldn't say one is right or wrong. For me taking the quiz helps to give me someone else's perspective and opens up my mind to the thought of playing hands differently in certain circumstances.

What do YOU get out of taking the quiz??

it allows me to find out the solution to all the poker problems of the world in actuality, sometimes, the answers make sense, i learn a little, and sometimes I disagree and throw out a resounding, wtf, are you freakin nuts...as for today's quiz, i think with our money we should play 100/200 tables and make like 2k.... in the end though, the daily quiz is interesting...very strange and interesting...

I read it once in a while and I tend to agree with the basic logic

of a lot of his answers , the interesting thing to me is seeing

other peoples comments , but you're right poker is a very

situational game , the right answer is usually IT DEPENDS

lol

I feel stupid when I take them I am wrong must of the time {lol}
topcat1954 Aug 8, 2008 5:46 am

I don't participate, the quizzmaster and I don't see eye to eye on much, and more often than not, he doesn't give information up front that he uses in his answer, and that just pisses me off ...lol...at least it use to be that way, haven't hardly looked since December of last year.

....play on .....Tc.....

I agree with the erm... situationallness of most of the hands, but the forum provides a great insight into how OTHERS think about poker... I for one have learned alot more from reading others responses as opposed to the quiz itself...

I liked TC's quiz questions more than the official ones on RB's. I don't look at the quiz on here anymore. P.S. Does the person(s) have a name???

From taking the quiz, I think I know exactly how the quizmaster plays and could beat him. However, we all play differently so many of his answers I feel are wrong, or not how I would play.

Now I know why the quizmaster frustrates me. I'm a disciple of Top Cat....Its an epiphany...Peace

i agree with you gini that is what i take away from it

I try to get information and ideas, even when I feel the 'correct' answer, is NOT. Gathering information is critical in playing good poker and any source of information is a good thing.

It's also a place to get an overview of what percentage of people really feel that a particular answer or strategy gets votes. Don't think the quiz actually sets any one standard, it's just a starting point for discussion.

Have to always keep in mind that there is never just one absolute answer in poker decisions. If there was just one 'right' way, there would only be one book for each game since any other books would simply be carbon copies.

I do agree some of the questions don't give all the info needed

to answer the question , those ones just leave me scratching

my head lmao ,

most times the quiz is holdem related but on the few times it's

been omaha , well have mercy , I don't think he plays omaha

much , but it's interesting to see the others responses on it !

I still have a look but dont give comments as it usually is so much of a mix that I see nearly ev1 has a different opinion which a good thing!!

I learn from them - non-stop! They're one of the learning tools i first discovered when I joined.. I get to compare my thought processes with someone who obviously knows more than me. I find that as I play more and more my thinking leans more and more towards the quiz masters. I reach the same conclusions through the same thought process, more and more.

Definitely an aid for me!

Good luck on the tables! Railbirds card: Kh

nevadanick Aug 9, 2008 2:18 am
Actually, it's now a $250 quiz FR since $250 was moved to the monthly Freeroll top 50 Freeroll.
ribbybruno Aug 9, 2008 2:21 am
Like the quiz to always keep an open learning process all the time to enhance poker skills.
Lloydinho77 Aug 9, 2008 2:29 am

The quiz often gives me new ideas, new ways to play a hand, new strategys to test.

Yeah they don't always work but the ones that do become weapons in my ever expanding arsenal.

Thats the beauty of railbirds.com - so much variety and so many opinions i can mix and match til i've honed my game to perfection
