A good idea from another railbird

GREAT IDEA

guys, i've suggested it before -- as well as other people have in the past... but there has been no action from Pro rails to get this implemented and make railibirds.com a better community! it's time to take action and get this implemented, i think! let's keep bumping these posts until Pro rails do something about people stealing our passwords!

This is a very good idea!

At work, I frequently estimate projects and give the disappointing news to people who expect miracles. If you want this done, please estimate the expense of doing this. Then estimate the benefit in dollars of doing this. If the benefit is greater than the expense, it will probably get done. Otherwise, it will not.

The expense will be fairly substantial as it involves interaction between two organizations and that always drives the costs up.

The value of the benefits are harder to estimate. I expect that the value is precisely $0.

I doubt that this will be done.

This is not the first time this has been suggested, along with several other "good ideas", it is up to Railjoe to determine what to do with this problem. Until a solution can be found, we as Railbirds need to be the ones outplaying the password pirates, so they can't cash ! If we do this, then they will quit coming around, end of problem, don't you think?

Password thieves are annoying, but what can we really do about them? Even if a fellow RB decides to give a password to a friend, how could we really know? Even if the player lists are looked at after each tourney and we blacklisted (can this even be done?) a player, couldn't they just create a new account and enter the next one?

I'm not sure what the solution is, and I'm not even certain that there is a viable solution out there.

Just my thoughts.

A tad late, but at least here's a response. I'm afraid this isn't possible to do. FTP requires us to send in lists of people to join private tournaments at least several days in advance. We can't do that for every freeroll when we want people to join spontaneously.

Yeah good idea! Only way is for railbirds to seperate all countries is through thier software keepnig all rb's seperate.Then having all broke down....but It could be plausible to be done??? Maybe? Alot of work to add that...but people would still get the pw from other people. Could do a minimum post or something like that? Anyway maybe!!!

ok, nice idea, but Rail Joe already said it wasnt plausable, and besides, we seem to be forgetting one major issue here....the password theives are getting the passwords from members of Railbirds, and if and until those birdies that are posting the passwords on other forums, or password sites, quit doing so, we are not going to get rid of the problem......regardless of what plan is implemented.

ADD A CLAUSE TO RAILBIRDS??? Then less problems??? Maybe not so much pw sharing??? I DON'T SHARE...SRY all wanters...I know certain birds can play at certain times. MAYBE? All birds have to post so many times for the pw or each country???Then only certain countries could play and that would cut out playing with RB's from diff. countries etc...Conflicting Situation!!! CAN be cut down some though,for a short time....???
