gas prices will raise also. we will never see $2 per gallon again
tomfmason Jul 24, 2008 5:20 pm
I don't really agree with raising the minimum wages. The price of everything goes up by about the same as the increase in wages and maybe even more. We will see an increase in prices for things like meals at restaurants and really just about anything where the employees are getting paid minimum wage. I seriously doubt that any business is going to take that as a loss. They have to spread that out to their clients. So, I wouldn't doubt it at all to see an increase of about 10% or so.

icebox Jul 24, 2008 5:52 pm

haha suckas, it is over $8 in Canada!

OMG, americans now have to pay as much as canadians for gas! its a shock...

LMAO @ The Colbert Report- theres a shortage at the pumps- not of gas, but of the number 4 on signs....

That should go a long ways towards eliminating the beggars. At that wage there is no excuse for people to come to the real money tables as observers begging for money. They can afford to make their own deposits.

" At that wage there is no excuse for people to come to the real money tables as observers begging for money"

lol.. They shouldn't be begging anyways. But to be honest that raise is going to cause more harm for more people than it will help. By increasing the wage companies will have to raise their prices to compensate for the money lost by the higher wages. The people that get this raise most likely wouldn't see much of a difference because the cost has went up about the same as their wages did. However, the people that make more than that wage are not likely to get a raise and that makes their wages worth less.

tomfmason the reason cost in sitdown restuarants going up it b/c everything is going up, The food that you get infront of you to eat has these figured into it. The 15 buck service charge that i got from vendor X the way the food cost that i just went up a buck on each steak, The rise in the water electric and gas bills I got. The cost of the waitstaff doesnt have to min wage the bartenders either. If they get tips the min wage doesnt need to be paid. So make sure your tipping well b/c these people really only make mabye 5 bucks an hr

What came first, the chicken or the egg? Seriously.
Jnyce Jul 24, 2008 8:02 pm
Here in NY the minimum wage is $7.15 so thats pretty good for us seeing how everything here is already too damn expensive lol.
foxxylady339 Jul 24, 2008 8:10 pm

The wage goes up only .70 and everything else goes up higher. When will we see a relief from all of this. It costs American's more than that to buy a loaf of bread or to compensate for the rising gas prices and all the other prices that have to go up to compensate for the rise in wages. A lot of people are out of jobs right now because of the increase in gas, tansportation for consumer products and companies having to cut back on employees. How do they see this as a fix. HA!

I still think the government is overlooking the BIG picture. We can't come out of this situation if the people who are money hungry still get to pay off OUR goverment officials who are voted into office to see to our benefits and not their own or the companies paying them to have things go their way and not what's best for our country.

Just my opinion, but this is one subject that gets me HOT! To many people making their fortune at our expense.

The gas prices WILL NOT go down by more than .30 cents a gallon and then it wont be until it reaches $5.85 per gallon EVERY where in United States. That will make the people feel the government has done something for its people when all along it is looking out for the BIG GUYS.

Sorry, I tend to preach on this subject.

Gl to all in the raibirds community...

Foxxylady, what do you mean by your second paragraph? I think I understand, but not sure. Can you explain further? Thanks.
GODSTATUS Jul 24, 2008 8:41 pm
she is referring to special interest groups. anyway a wage increase doesn't matter to prices.

once you force employers to pay more, they either raise their prices to compensate for the money lost to their employees or lay them off. i dont see what the big huzzah is about
GODSTATUS Jul 24, 2008 8:43 pm
by the way, opec and exxon can only raise prices so much until people get sick of it and start wanting another source of energy that's cheaper.
foxxylady339 Jul 24, 2008 9:05 pm

Anytime congress has to look at a bill or redo a bill, the lobbist are backing the companies who are giving certain officials a kick back for helping to make things go their way. When the govenrment stops all the Big Guys from paying off officials, then we can look at a govenrment looking to the peoples benefit and not the people with something to gain from the prices increasing looking for an easy target in our government.

The housing dept. (loan institutions) and credit card companies and pharmacy companies are just a few who abuse our system. The oil companies have finally learned how it works, and are now putting the screws to everyone. I know there is a shortage of gas..... look how much gas everyone all over the world uses, and our government ok-ing the off shore oil production to start back up is really no help, since we wont see a relief to gas prices for a long time. So we will pay the price increase because we need the gas and we have no choice.. our country would shut down and be like a 3rd world country if we didnt.. people would lose jobs, housing, food, ect. because we cant function without it. Look at Californis... they told the gas companies that if they didnt make a gas for their state that would stop all the polution to their cities, they wouldnt allow gas into their state. They now have 65% less fog from the chemicals that the cars were elimating into their environment. Their is a chemical out their that they could add to our gas BEFORE the consumer gets it, but the downfall to that is if they do... it also increases the gas mileage per gallon and the oil companies would be losing money.

Look at the bill they are going to vote on Friday.... it is giving the biggest companies money...and still they arent going to regulate it...they are going to give the minorities help... but screw the rest of the people who need the help... it gets me mad when you look at the overall picture...

Remember when the electric was controlled by Bell.... and the telephones... and When Micrsoft controlled all.... they took that controll away from them and made it so others could have a chance to provide the same service, but at a cheaper price and it wasnt to where everytime they wanted to charge us for improvements they instigated it was added to our bill and we had no choice but to pay it.... we all need electric, most of us have to have telephone, and with the rise in internet access, we need the internet... well, we really need the gas more.... since without the gas... we cant work, go to get food to feed our families, ect... So like before, we are stuck until our government does something again that is for the people and NOT for the people who are looking out for their pockets

SORRY!! Just my opinion.

Anyway, I could go on all day about all the things that the government is allowing to happen and not doing anything about it...

Sorry, I said this is one topic that just gets me HOT!!. google for research and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

Take the pharmary... they raise the price of medication... who controls the price for the meds. NO ONE.. as our cost of insurance sky rockets and
