Did I play this wrong?

Jul 22, 2008 12:59 am Report Abuse

In almost 45 minutes, it was the first hand I played, I folded crap the entire time...and the one time I got my hand, it hurt. The 4th diamond on 4th scared the crap out of me!

i woulda bet out to see where u stand u had top 2 pair on the flop and you had an extra 4 outs to hit a house on either the turn or river but i woulda made a bet of atleast 350 on the flop if not more

I was hoping they had low pok pair, or AK, AJ...never counted on pok J's..

betting any amount on the flop basically commits you, i'd probably push there to hopefully end the hand. as played, i think i'm going into c/f mode once the turn hits. if you were going to push a diamond turn you would have been better off pushing the flop.

well, in hindsight you could say that yes, checking on the flop was a mistake. depending on my hand I would bet or fold, but with 2 top pairs I would bet. And more often than not, the others WILL fold because they will think you probably have a flush. If somone calls my bet, my usual reaction is: THEY probably have a flush, so if they bet on the turn, especially if a 4th suited card comes out, I fold. If the board pairs and I get my boat, then there's a bet from me of course.

I would have put out a continuation bet at the very least to see where they were sitting....chances are on that board they would have folded. But had he called a bet you woulda been screwed regardless cuz i doubt after the turn he woulda folded.

if you were going to go all in i would rather you do it on the flop than on the turn when a four flush is on the board. Not only did the "lucky" set have you beat but any diamond even the 2 of diamonds had you beat there.
Wtih the action preflop it is hard to give this guy credit for a floped flush i would think more along the lines that he had a pocket pair with that being said you probably should have bet the flop and forced your opponent to fold or make a bad call drawing to 2 outs

when someone makes a pot-sized raise in 3rd position at a full table that usually means a big hand -unless you have determined this player to be very agressive and able to raise with less than AQ- and it was somewhat of a poor play to make a pot-sized reraise commiting yourself- he could have AK QQ KK AA, and you can't fold the rest of your stack if he does reraise- so I would either go all in and really put the pressure on or simply call or even folding is an option (although I wouldn't fold) When the flop came and you had 800 left and there is 1200 in the pot and 3 diamonds on the board, you have got to move all in- he can't call with two black jacks, instead you let him outdraw you on the turn- even though he made a very loose call with 4 diamonds on board. Hope I have been helpful ttyl,
