Does anyone think it is a little strange that the guys who made it to the final table of the 2008 WSOP Championship Event have to wait 3-4 months to finish the tournament?
If it were me, i would be pretty pissed off. I know that they have their money locked in, but that means they also have to wait to get paid. I guess it's not that big a deal for people who play poker for a living or people who money isn't an issure for. But as for all us normal people, I would be upset to have to wait this long to get my winnings.
I understand that it's good for publicity and whatnot, but think about it from the player's standpoint. Any Thoghts?

There's also a few more blogs around RBs about it that might interest you.
Actually the final 9 were all paid 9th place money. The remaining prize pool is put in escrow and any interest earned on it will be divided up accordingly with the remaining payouts.
And also many of the players now can negotiate for more money to wear different logos and be sponsored by various advertisers.
A few things went through my head when i heard this.
1. What is someone dies or is really ill? Alot can happen in 4 months.
2. What if ur not rich or a pro? You have to go back to your normal poor life for 4 months, knowing that you have million+ coming to you? I'd be pissed.
3. If players can watch it on TV they will watch all their opponants play OVER AND OVER to get reads, tells, and general information on their play. Including Coaching from top pros.
4. Money today is worth more than money 4 months from now in our economy!
5. What is the UNDERLYING reason for it, who profits from it and why do it?
6. VERY IMPORTANT Even a step further than illness, What if someone gets hurt over it. A certain player has an "accident" due to one of the person's being in it. PEOPLE BET MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON THE WSOP. Like who is going to win vs go out in what positions. Many Bets placed have much more to gain than the prize money itself. And I'm sure some of the bettors are not upstanding citizens!
THINK ABOUT IT!
