Top 10 reasons why Poker shouldn't be considered a sport.

Jul 20, 2008 7:29 pm Report Abuse

Now before I get banished to oblivion, lol.....I read this in the latest issue of Cardplayer magazine. The article was written by Miami John Cernuto, and was actually a very good read. Check it out of you get a chance.

10. No one has ever been sidelined from poker due to injuries or failing a drug test.

9. In sports, you are penalized for excessive celebrations, while in poker you are put on television for doing it.

8. In poker, you are penalized for using the F-word, while in sports it's perfectly acceptible to talk trash.

7. Although some have tried, not one poker player has ever executed "The Lambeau Leap" successfully after winning a tournament.

6. In sports, most announcers used to be great players, while in poker most announcers are not great players.

5. In sports, you are fired for playing poorly, while in poker you are always asked to come back and play as poorly as you like.

4. In sports, thousands of fans cheer you on, while in poker you are cheered on only by your backers, those to whom you owe money, and especially those who want to borrow some money.

3. In sports, the favorites usually win the game, while in poker tournaments, the favorites rarely do.

2. In sports, you have to endure physically, while in poker tournaments, the most physical thing you must endure is sitting down longer than the rest of your opponents.

1. There is no crying in baseball, but there is plenty of it in poker.

Row....don't get me wrong, I do think of Poker as a sport. I just wrote the heading the same as the article was written.

And the top 10 list is at the very end of his article.....he actually does have some good takes on the whole matter.

Its a good blog...dont spoil it..lol

but i dont agree with number

10. No one has ever been sidelined from poker due to injuries or failing a drug test.

im shure a few were sidelined once the do to a fight over a hand, and a trip to hospital...other then that...it all seems right to me.

i dont do sports that involve touching another man in any way...no guy is gonna slap me in the ass...lol
