Blinds are 100/200. Pretty tight table thus far. Players fold around to the big blind, who bets 700. Up til now, this player has not raised, nor taken advantage of his position. I'm in the SB w/ KK. I decided to find out where I stand right now and raise 1000 more. The BB folds and immediately, the button raises 4000 more to go. Talk about decisions. I'm probably the pre-flop favorite, but this is the Main Event...can't afford mistakes. I go into the tank for about 2 minutes trying to get a read on this old spanish fella who hasn't raised a pot yet. I'm talking, staring, basically trying to find out what he's holding. I figure it's too early to put my tournament on the line that early and fold my KK face up. This nice old fella, can't help himself and does a great thing...he shows me AA. The initial feeling I got on his raise was correct and it lead to more good decisions as Day 1 went on. More to come from my table at Day 1D.
