2 WEEKS NO SMOKES

Jul 19, 2008 3:51 pm Report Abuse

Yes i made it to california and back with no ciggarettes it will be 2 full weeks tommorow and let me tell you all I feel a heck of a lot better. The hardest part i think was playing around in california only cause the traffic is just soooooo bad there 24/7 u really cant avoid it and traffic jams are probably the most stressfull thing me as a truckdriver has too deal with. Now yes theres traffic jams all over the country but im sorry the problem with socal is that there everywhere if u dont believe search for california live traffic updates durin say like 4pm to 6pm rush out there it will be all RED cause traffic doesnt move.

Anyhow im so happy ive decided to quit. im honestly one of those people that probably shouldve never had started to begin with.

Ok so know all I have to do is lose about 200lbs yes 200 cause yes i weigh about 400 so that is my next journey is to start dieting and shedding this FAT off me I know this part will be hard do to my lifestyle but im going to give it a shot 1 step at a time right........

WTG!!!!! I quit 7 years ago...best thing I ever did. After smoking 2 packs a day for 30 years I quit cold turkey. I think the hardest part was breaking the habit more than the actual nicotine addiction. Examples...the phone would ring, light a cig...get in the car...buckle up...put key in ignition...light up.....stop at a red light.......COFFEE....OMG....light up...light up. Not to mention that I really enjoyed a good smoke.
I wish you well...it'll be the best thing you've ever done for yourself. Remember that each craving really only lasts less than a minute...be aware of that and you'll be able to make it through each one. Good luck!!!!

As someone who still smokes and probably won't quit, I congratulate you. As far as the weight loss I had that problem too. I once weighed 394 pounds after quitting smoking for 4 months (I had gained 50 pounds lol) and what I did was quit drinking regular sodas. I found a diet soda, Mountain Dew, and it tastes good so I stopped the regular. I also stopped eating late at night. I am now down to 270 and it has taken 3 years to get here. I am still on my way down and I hope to get down to 230 which will be good for my size. By the way, I smoke more or less because I want to and I usually smoke less than a half pack a day. Food just tasted too good after I quit last time lol. Keep on keeping on!!

Congratulations!!!!!!! I've been smoke free since November so I know what your going thru. There are still times I miss those @%*$ things but I've kept myself from lighting up. So if I can help you in anyway PLEASE let me know. GOOD LUCK

What is the secret to stopping? I stopped for 63 days after surgery years ago, but with Whooper smoking in the house made it hard. I think if we commit to quit together it will work. I sit in my computer room and it smells like smoke. I keep a can of Febreze in there and I was the curtains and futon cover every two weeks. I have to find a way to quit. Glad you quit and hope to follow in your footsteps. X
