http://www.railbirds.com/blog/186917/part-2-to-what-would-you-do-and-why.html

So u can take a look at the first two blogs and see how I got here.

The whole point of these blogs is about trusting the read and notes you have on someone. Through out this whole hand something just didn't seem right to me, so I just followed my read and depended on the notes I had on this individual.

I do not care if you would have played A/10 out of position, cuz honestly that wasn't my question. So here is the hand from beginning to end.

nice one watch, trusting your read got ya a nice payday there, great play
p0ker_j0ker Jul 19, 2008 1:32 am
like i said in my comment on part one i guess you have a good read on this guy to call that preflop raise with A 10 from the small blind.

just alittle advise if you wanted us to get the full grasp of your question- or were trying to show how well trusting your read is it would have helped if you also gave us the notes you had on the player.
watchdog26 Jul 19, 2008 1:35 am
I did say my reasons in the first blog for calling pre-flop.
p0ker_j0ker Jul 19, 2008 1:39 am
i guess im blind i don't see any notes on the player in the first question- but none the less congrats on the call and it was a nice read---- THIS IS WHY TAKING NOTES ON PLAYERS IS IMPORTANT

if you didnt have the notes like most of us that read the blog most likely you would have to fold this hand if not preflop by the turn

Reasons: I've watched this person raise from position for the past hour, and in the showdown end up showing hands like 9/6 off or j/5 off.

O.k. So it doesn't say notes exactly, but I do give my reasons for making the call, which are in my notes.
p0ker_j0ker Jul 19, 2008 1:44 am
oh ok so it was in your comments my bad- didnt read any other comments on it just read the blog and gave my opinion.
allndave Jul 19, 2008 1:47 am
i started in the middle of the story, boy was i confused, very good ending must have been a great read to make that call. RESPECT!! now i am gonna go read how it all started. lol

Winning a pot because you had more skill and ability than your opponent is the most gratifying thing you can do in poker. It is why you play. If he flips over J6 y ou look like an idiot and I doubt this blog is posted at all. You go with your notes and read and if you are right you are brilliant and you make some dollars, if not you look like the Jester holding the scepter.

I really honestly did not read this last blog before I wrote my comments on the others. I certainly didn't think it was a stone bluff tho, is Quasi playing on 2 accounts at FT? LOL!! Very good read Watch.

How very "pro"rail of you....

Hand selection and position are essential to winning poker, and your sheriff approach to this hand is a horrible example of how to play...

Congrats on your win, but I certainly wouldn't make it a habit to throw $20+ into a pot w/ only Ace high, read or not...

watchdog26 Jul 19, 2008 2:38 am
ksu your missing the whole point of the blog.

This isn't so people can question hand selection. It's about what you do in certain situations. Learn to step back and look at things differently. Trusting in your abilitly to read people and situations.

Why would I make it a habit? This, like everything in poker was a situational event. Wold you like a step stool to help you off your high horse?
SHERRY524 Jul 19, 2008 2:41 am
Thanks for the post. I dont play cash tables because I suck at it and dont have the bankroll to go thru growing pains. It was nice to see the reasoning played out as you did.
ksuhart Jul 19, 2008 2:53 am

Sure, I'll borrow yours.

This was a 3 part brag post, straight up... If it was meant to be a "strategy" blog you would have provided info in the first blog body, not after the fact in the comments when several people had already commented on your preflop play...

watchdog26 Jul 19, 2008 3:08 am
yeah so as stated before I gave my reasons for making the call pre-flop. in the first blog. Only those reasons are in the comments.
I don't need to brag about anything. In fact everything I asked was about what would you do at that point in the hand and why? Then at the end I gave what I did and why, period.
Never said it was about strategy. It was about thinking and trusting yourself. Wanting to get people looking and thinking outside the box.

Yer shootin' over their heads WD...lol.... Excellence comes to those who understand these things ! The gut instinct, is the one to trust ! Your mind will try to talk you out of everything, or into anything !...lol...

.....Play on ....Tc....

Watch,

These are the same ppl that slammed Seraphi's blog about always playing by the book. I think a post blog thought process explanation would eliminate some of the backlash. I'm fairly confident that you weren't blinding calling bets and you understood the risk that went into going with your read. It's unfortunate that many of them do not. A winning hand is the two best cards needed to win, regardless of anything else. Now starting hands, position, how your hand connects with the board on the flop are the ingredients to that stew, but the recipe is BEST HAND WINS. Playing mechanic or robotic poker makes you exploitable. But yeah, probably over most of their heads.

I don't see any read info in the body of the blog... I see your reason for a preflop call 7 comments down....
Just post a blog about how you used your read and it paid off. Everyone, including Topcat(shooting over his head too I guess )said to fold on the turn... What in the world did you expect everyone to say just looking at the hand and betting of the turn and river... No need for the "3 parter" other than to puff out your chest imo...

Get over yourself already. I made it 3 parts for a reason. 2 parts to see how others would play after the turn and why, and the 3rd to show everything together and what I did.

I put my reasons for calling preflop in the comments as I forgot to put them in the body of the first blog, shoot me.

I do not need to puff out my chest, never had to never will. Perhaps you see it as that because that what you would do or how you think. Sorry that's not me. I am just trying to get people to think outside the box and analyze play.

Once seeing everything together most have understood what I was saying, you however don't and that's fine. I just want to try and help someone out, but apparantly your not the one. I'm not gonna sit here and go back and forth with you on this. Good luck to you and have a good night.
